Hi,
hope you can fix this!
While reading PH Clock doc i please want to know:
Which audio formats are allowed (for alarm+chime) exactly? In doc you only wrote
"Everything but no MIDI or MOD files"...
Please tell me about the following parameters: Format, sample frequency,
8bit or 16bit, signed/unsigned, stereo/mono.
And how are the samples played? Via Falcon XBIOS, DMA sound or someway else?
Is a (optional) connected external audio clock (44.1 kHz at DSP port) detected
and used for playing (CD quality) audio files?
Thanks,
Latz

Again a multi-post because of HighWire, sorry for that.
Don't know why this happens.

The sound playing code is from my mid 1990s phplayer code (it's the backup source code I found is v3).
It plays via DMA sound only.
The webpage about it is located in 110mb website and it is not responding now but my backup pages states:
format = wav (PCM, ADPCM, A-law, µ-Law, IMA ), AU ( SUN ), SND ( Mac), AVR, AIF, VOC ( sound blaster), AIFF (Amiga) and raw.
8 bit and 16 bits samples. signed/unsigned samples, stereo/mono supported.
Playback speed of 5500, 6258, 7333, 8000, 11025, 12516, 16000, 18900, 22150, 25033, 32000, 37800, 44056, 44100, 48000 & 50066 Hz.
(depending on the sample).

The latest version ( phplayer v4) plays also MIDI out through DMA but I temporary lost the source code to that one.

I was thinking that one can just drop a sample on to phclock and it will play the sample. Much like what phplayer v3.0 does.
Would be fun... to have a sample playing clock
may be fixed version. :P

Hi,
thank you for the detailed description.
Now i know why you wrote "Everything but..." :D
It´s great to hear that you solved your Falcon problem, too. So be prepared for a german PH Clock soon (if you can
fix the crashing issue).

Dear Latz,

Did you manage to solve the problem phclock start because the configuration of my falcon is:
CT63 + ctpci + Radeon, Mint 1.18 + xaaes
receives a similar error as you:
pid 49 (phclock) BUS error
user PC = 2B46E70, Address:
FFFF8900 ...

Similar error I receives in configuration only ct63 and 256 colours without ctpci

Best Regards

The logo with the rounded corners looks nicer.
The contoured words software was something I wanted to do but I just could not visualise it (guess I'm not an artistic person).
I liked it now

New PH Clock v1.30 released.
https://sites.google.com/site/probehous ... -downloads

1. Works on MagiC.
2. Configure the sounds for alarm/chime easily by dragging samples on to the clock face.
3. Listen to the sample for alarm/clock before selecting by simply dragging the sample on to the clock face.

Funny issue on MagiC
There is always a red square outline on the 1st character of strings in the configuration window. Not sure why it's there. It does not do anything when I click on it. I can't get rid of it as it looks drawn by the AES/VDI ( one of them... dunno which). Does not show up on Mint/XaAES. Just weird. Probably something not set correctly for MagiC in the app but I don't know what.

Hi Wongck,

good work, at now phclock work perfectly under MiNT+XAaes or myaes + Thing with ct63 and Radeon

However, I have a simple question whether it is possible to enter the opportunity to save the position of the clock on the screen now always runs in the same place on the screen

For your information also tested it on Hades but here, unfortunately, is the same situation which shows the error

pid 65 (phclock): Illegal Instructions:
user PC = 2B89CF0 (basepage = 2B860000,
text = 2B86100, data = 2BAA944
bss = 2BAB700

I suppose the poor get in trouble because they do not have access to Hades?

It should start up at the location where it was previous exited at.
So move your clock to some where else and then do a quit app, the new location will be saved.

I do not have a Hades to test with. I will need to google the specs of a Hades.
Does the 68000 binaries work?
Does zView work on the Hades?
May be I need to look for development docs for Hades.

Glad that it is working for you... :D

Isn't the Hades suppose to be a 68040 CPU?
I am at a lost why it does not work on 68020 version but OK on 68000 version.

Hades was sold in two versions, with the processor 040 and 060 but more popular is probably the 060th I have just 060 versions of the processor

PH Clocks runs under MagiC. Congratulation! I love this little utility :D

Nonetheless, there are some more or less problems:

a) If the option "Use BIOS time" is enabled or not, the seconds are always incremented by two under MagiC.

b) Resources files:
wongck wrote:Funny issue on MagiC

The red square outlines are so-called I-boxes in the resource files. I don't why they've been created, but if you delete them, everything should be okay. You just need to pay attention to the object numbers. The same goes for other resource files of your new PH programs. By the way, I can see red square outlines under MagiC and MiNT/XaAES

c) Like the old GMap, closing colour boxes result in a flickering background under MagiC and MiNT.

d) Is there a possibility to redraw the hands only if necessary as the hands flicker? For example, when the seconds hand isn't shown, the hours and minute hands don't need to be redrawn for one minute, do they?

Best regards,

Yes, it is as written in the documentation. Your bios clock in the Atari gives a resolution of 2 seconds.

AtFaCT wrote:The red square outlines are so-called I-boxes in the resource files. I don't why they've been created, but if you delete them, everything should be okay. Thanks for finding out the issue. I wonder why the I-Box are there. I cannot remember me adding any I-Box, but most of the time I just copy the strings from one RSC to another and maybe they are copied with it. IIRC, I-box have fill and borders colours, may be painting them as the background colour will make it look invisible.... so it is taken care of without worry of objects numbers.
You can see the screen shot of the colour picking window taken from Mint in the document. The red square are not there.
In any case, it is great that you found it, I will fix this.

AtFaCT wrote:c) Like the old GMap, closing colour boxes result in a flickering background under MagiC and MiNT.

I checked the colour picking code and they are similar to PH Gmap. May be somewhere else is re-drawing or asking a redraw of the window.

I can only see slight flickering on my TT.
Yes, by right, if it is a minute, then only every minute it should flicker.

Actually it is easier than, just turn off borders for the I-Box. Then it is truly an Invisible-BOX ....

Yes, I know, but it´s the same when "Use BIOS time" is disabled. No possibility to have a one-second-incrementation under MagiC?

Strange! In PH Clock config file is saved and closing colour box flickers, and in latest PH GMap config file is not saved and closing colour box doesn´t flicker :?

Yes, by right, if it is a minute, then only every minute it should flicker.

I used a resolution of 832x624 in 256 colours. I can understand that it flickers slightly with the second hand enabled, but why does it flickers slightly every few seconds when there´s no second hand?

The clock information is taken by using the Unix function time().
As to how the function time() gets the actual time from the system, I cannot say.
If MagiC pass the bios time to the function time() then it will be the same as bios mode.

Flickering, saving and per minute update all will be fixed.
Both Ph Gmap and PH clock will be fixed as soon as I flash my CT63 back to boot v2.01.
