Atari Track-Ball instead of mouse on ST/Falcon/TT

Postby Foxxy74 » Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:52 pm

Yo folks, didnt read it anywhere here ,so just for the wizzkids .. I use a Atari Trackball http://cgi.ebay.com/Atari-Trackball-NOS ... 5640505f98 (E-Bay link 29 March 2011) instead of an Atari mouse .. (since LONG way back in time )

A m8 of me converted the wiring about 20 years ago to work on my 260 ST ..

Never looked into it anyways, but if someone is interested in the wiring or so, I perhaps can open it up, or send it over..

As long as it is like a bus mouse, you can easily rewire it like any bus mouse.

Atari Track-Ball instead of mouse on ST/Falcon/TT

Personally I'd use PeST and use a pc trackball with more accuracy, but if you want the genuine article, I have seen similar used on a falcon (there is a picture of on in the studio shot of donovans old studio over at amn)

There is one for sale here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Atari-Trak-Ba ... 500wt_1158

I would personally like to know how the modification is made also!! Might be fun to build one!!

Also, is anyone making PeST at the moment?? Cheers

I'm kinda missing the point here I guess - why wouldn't any Atari trackball work with an
Atari computer? Best Electronics sells a model still, I reckon...

<EDIT> Oh never mind - I just realised that link was to an *8bit* trackball. :)

I have two trackballs for my atari, one modified atari branded one and one cool third party one with a ball that lights up!

Way better than a mouse
