??? should work aok with all revision's afaik

think you must have a pcb problem maybe a chip or pin track problem

any TT should defo work with a standard TT addin :?

so if it doesnt you have a prob with your board... :(

i also know of some clock mods too do

not sure its a problem here other than some connection
as the atari TTram board infact as you say any one fails
not sure the problem past the thru plates and tracks on the board
a known problem with some pcb's atari made
like rev a falcon revB is the better one...!

a faulty clock buffer spring's too mind
looking in my notes it could be U210 74LS244 pin 8 you should get CLK16G @16mhz ttl

a single gate on it supplies clocks to the TTRam board alone
and is a known issue as its gates fry easy
so check the clock and voltage to the board
then signals are dma chip controlled

when you say doesnt like them???

do you mean fails too boot
if so its the clock buffer u210 or fc 0,1,2 control lines
you may need to use a multimeter to see if there is a bad track or thru hole
maybe a fracture in the board below the socket from heavy hand install

rev d-k uses a different setup for the clocks
but there is mods to do to rev d to make it work better

but any tt should work with a standard atari TT ram addin

@simbo

thanx for your long answer - really didn't expect that!
The TT board in question is a Rev.J with soldered 68030 (onboard). I checked (with Ohm-meter) that all address and data lines are connected between CPU and TT-RAM expansion port. And I checked that the CLK16 is alive on that expansion port. Bad thing is that some control signals are generated via 74xx chips on old boards (with 030 on daughterboard) and I only have the 12pg. schematic for them. The Rev.J board seems to generate the very same control signals via PALs :(
I reworked a 4MB Atari TT FastRAM card (with 4 SIPPs) to work with SIMMs and I added the upper-most address line (MAD9 or MAD10). I have two TT boards: one with 030 daughterboard and that Rev.J. I cannot remeber which TT I used to check that reworked card (I did that rework 10+ years ago). It didn't work in either TT. A couple of days ago I rechecked everything and found out that one pin of the PLCC of the TTFastRAM-MCU did not have contact to the IC. Solved that problem and: tarraaaaah. it works in the daughterboard TT. Same with an aixTT (64MB) and a MagnumTT (128MB). But none of the three cards works with the Rev.J. It just recognizes the 4MB STRAM and boots to desktop. I did not do any long-time tests, if it may crash at some point.
So I have to check at least if the control-lines "get through" i.e. if there is a change in voltage at some point. Will do that in december with a logic-analyzer.

Nevertheless: thanks for your advises.

bye, Arne

i have also a falcon too do just soldered on its combel for daL 197x
i feel this combel is DOA
its a fact a feel some chips will arrive this way

make a chart of chips pins and

i use the cart port and extension port pins to varify

also i made a plug in set of led's low current
to allow for bus monitors to be plugged into the cart / stram extension port
and also memory port in tt now

circuits avalible ..!

i have made a plug in led indicator for bus and memory bus {double bus}

well worth scraping and gubbed stram board for its connectors .. to make up

ok so i managed to travel to maplin and get a few 50 packs of different coloured jumper pins
a smashing 1.99 for 50 5 colours X 10 each nice buy!!!
nicest deal ive had in maplin for five years!!!!

so ive popuplated the boards with jumpers
the boards will be sent tomorrow morning to all buyers and
will be populated with the micro and the jumper set

and come with a A4 schematic for the board A4 rules for install and a few tools links
i am still gathering tools and likes for TTRAM level testing etc

if you use a pair of 64 or 128 the TT counts to 99.999MB so wont see 128 or 256 itself

so perhaps sysinfo can {not sure!!!does someone know??}

but i and i am sure other will endevour to give support in this region

so i estimate air mail travel time as 3-5 days local europe as also 3-5 days

any probs let me know....!!!

hi jeff
i have 3 left f/s {4 if the guy belows board works still}
i had to send out a board to a user in u.s.a nice guy better i send him another than fry his TT
he fitted the wrong ram i think 3.3v type or some issue..
anyway 3 left if you want one pm me... with send details
the price is a fixed £60 each + post
so will be about £2-3 inc insurance and tracking
it nice to know that during the very bad weather in the uk
ALL the air mail packs made it out
faster than scotland to england
at least we know how to clean a landing...!
faster than a postman from scotland to england
10 countrys and two guys in england got them
so.. it proves a point
one dust of snow and england grinds to a halt...! :coffe:

there is a return policy here
be sure of the ram type 100% is the tip

a good tip is to plug the board in blank and no simms
at first
it will boot up and to desktop {transparent}

then if you add simms as a pair then you will see the TTram as a count

the guy in usa plugged in 128mb simms from kingston
without reading or checking stuff

so i think maybe a fried ram or a 3.3v type..

so be warned if the TT is black screen with ram plugged
watch out

always use the label details on a simm to see what it is via google
and its datasheet

must also be symetrical like 12*12 for a 128mb simm

so

its sad to say there is only 2 left after you

then they are all gone... :o

anyway nice to know the TT still has owners

if you need like tos 3.06 etc pm me

Re: Magnum TTRAM 256MB boards for the TT 030

Postby simbo » Sun Feb 13, 2011 12:21 am

be warned that with any update board

be sure to plug it in blank first so not populated
blank test...!!!

then add the ram
the right type
4x4 8x8 16x16 symmetric ie 128mb/8 X 128mb/8 is ok
60 ns any extendor type like edo
even partiy or odd is aok
but must be 5 volts
please post links to this topic of type's you find aok
grab the data sheets you used and post for referance
you can also plug one simm into slot one
as the pdf says in a round about way
watch out for 3.3 i/o type simms ...
i had a couple of boards i had to replace both sockets in
as the older sockets left stagger are hard too find
so i had to use 2X right stagger
so replacement boards have to have the simms plugged in first
ie not insitue ..

no real issue affects 2 buys only...

parity ram will work
be sure to see the chip numbers
and cross referance. them to jap and malay etc.... typings

hi

well your in luck
i had a couple of board went wrong bad simm sockets {tabs are brittle }
if anyone has a problem with there simm sockets pm me please
there is a returns policy
i will have two boards back in a couple of days time
then i will have one spare to sell {tested} and one spare incase there is a return
i will change both simm sockets on these to the slightly better type with metal spring catches
i will pm you 'bid' when its avalible {few days or a week }

as for the spare one ill keep this for the future incase of a return ...

as your the first to ask your the one to get it ...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/128-MB-SIMM-MEMOR ... 53e43c4d8b

here is ram i think will work aok
its a 'reasonable' price
and the guy has a couple left

again check the simm module datasheet but it looks ok to go
its 5v and looks symmetrical ... dont buy it till you check
again you can always sell a module like this they keep there value
if it turns out no good

as long as the ram you use is 5volts !!! then non symmetric will just not be seen right
and it wont damage anything

i have five here

1 is repaired socket to be sent back packed and goes tomorrow morning
1 is sold to frank_b and he will collect it soon as he gets time
1 is for me
1 is spare
1 is now sold to 'bid'

so there is 1 spare !!
i will sell it to micro as he asked first

the problem with producing more of them is just the right socket for the board
if someone gives me a hand i am sure frank lukas will allow us to make a batch up again

pcb simm sockets and ic's arent a big issue
if we can find say 25 off of the plugs needed ill ask a pal in china to make a 30 off run
of thru plated boards roller tined .. and resist added
the other thing is the cost of the project

its not cheep to make a batch

like

30 or so boards will cost about 250 - 300 or less euros including setup fee for good quality boards
ic's maybe 250 euros for all of them
simm sockets are about 200 or less euros or more for 60 sockets
and TT fast ram plug vme bus connector they used to cost about £1.50 each
so if you can find them 30 off for less than 150 euros then this is ok

so the total to make say 30 boards
300 + 250 + 200 + 150+ fee's {programming etc}

so about ~1000 euros at an educated guess
not so good now eh???

Do pre-orders as Rodolphe does for the CT60's. That way you get the money up front.
Falcon CT60, Falcon CT63 x2, TT x3, MegaST x2, MegaSTE x2, STFM x2, STE x2, STacy, STBook, (Dead) Hades 060, Milan 060, T40.
