New production run for CT63

Hi all,

I've received an email from Rodolphe Czuba yesterday saying he's looking at another production run for the Falcon 68060 board.
Price for the CT63 which includes the '060 CPU will be EUR320.

He's looking for a firm commitment from individuals at this stage on whether they would like one.
I don't think they'll be ready too soon i.e. next few weeks, but he was looking to do some more in the next few months.

Rodolphe's email address is: rodolphe.czuba !_AT_! free.fr [swap the !_AT_! for an @]

His website is here: http://www.czuba-tech.com/CT60/english/overview63.htm

I may collect mine personally (as my folks live in France) and could collect others and bring them back to the UK if that helps others out.

Cheers,
Simon

I wonder what price he's selling them without 060? I bought a tray of 6 * MC68050RC50 (E41J) earlier this year for a cool $35 + postage.

I purchased a CT60 from Rodolphe some time ago, and am most pleased with the product. However, I just checked on XE.com for the conversion of 320 euro to USD and it comes to $404.00. When I think about it, I can get a great complete windows box for that. It becomes quite frustrating at times, particularly when money is a bit tight. Only thing I'm looking for at the moment though is a NetUS-bee for my second falcon....I'm hoping to network my two falcons with my home network.

I do hope people continue to develop additional hardware enhancements for our falcons. I would also like to see software development increase, especially as concerns Mint.

Anyhow, gigantic props to Rodolphe for all he has done and continues to do for our beloved falcons! :D

Next few months? Is he accumulating orders? How many does he expect? May take some time.
Do you know how many orders are there now?

I don't really know the answers to your questions to be honest but I got the feeling it was probably early next year, which is fine for me.
However the request was obviously to a fair few people (all BCC'd) to ask them their thoughts.
If the response was poor (I confirmed I'd have one) then they may well be delayed for another 6 months.

I also asked if he's able to price the CT63 sans CPU.

I've heard some great things about the board so hope he can produce more.

Oh really. That's quite a wait and must be frustrating. I'm sure that the card is due for posting soon.
I trust he has your latest contact information?

I would imagine the next production run is for maybe 4-6 months time then. I know others are receiving their cards now, so fingers crossed for you.
(I was going to write that Czuba offered me a card for next week, but I don't think you would of laughed at my joke :( )

I'm going to order a CT63 if he does another run, the reviews have been great, but am not too keen on paying that money and not expecting it until the spring!

Heh. Try ordering, paying up front, and *waiting* till my arteries harden, for an EtherNat...

I mean, its only been a couple of years now... :(

Ok, with so many ppl waiting for hw delivery, it looks not so good.
In any case, I think Czuba not interested because I emailed him at the address on the 1st posting but no reply.

Hmm, in his defense, it did take a while for my CT60 to get here in the States, but it was well worth it.

I noticed also, it takes some time for him to answer e-mails so give him a bit longer. :)

Ok, I just checked my emails. I retract my sentence about him not interested.
He did reply & I registered one unit, as he mention that he will try to deliver early next year ( I hope the Xmas spirit still lingers then :D )

Great stuff. I see the CTPCI board schematic is finished so a prototype is to be made soon.
Running a decent resolution (through a Radeon 7500) on an '060 Falcon is what I've dreamed of!!

I thought that some sort of PCI board was made a LONG time ago and abandoned?

But these schematics have 2008 on them!? (Or is that 2003?)

You are talking about the Eclipse. IIRC it was quite buggy...

Yes it's 2008.
CTPCI is still ongoing - it was a project started some 3 or 4 years ago but hit delays. It's to run from the CT60/63 expansion slot to allow PCI cards to be plugged in.
Rodolphe Czuba's plan is to get ATI Radeon 7500 PCI card drivers ported/re-written so CT60/CT63 users can run their Falcon 68060 machines in 2048x1536 x 32 bit.

Anyone fancy writing a colour demo for that resolution?!
:D

What, on a cinema screen?? I don't think I've ever seen more than 1600x1200 or so on a normal monitor...

Man I wish that I didn't live in Australia. With the dollar falling down so low now, 320 euros will buy you a three bedroom house down here :(

Guess I have to save up for a PhantomS first - 35euros - that's only the price of an Aussie car :)

cheers

My PC runs at 1920x1200@60Hz on a 24" screen. Which is about 2.3x A4 pages side by side.
I would upgrade the screen in a flash to have dual inputs (one for PC one for Falcon) at 2048x1536 - if/when I got a CTPCI and the Radeon 7500!
