Loteks' Requests section

Postby Mug UK » Thu Sep 16, 2004 8:06 pm

I will be uploading the ripped tunes from Lotek's big requests lists below.

Can the moderators please keep this one clean so it's just a dumping ground. Move any chats to the Quartet Rips Requests Taken one?

Arcade Trivia Quiz (.MOD format)

Alien World (.MOD format, but samples sound *really* awful?)

Aquanaut (looped sample played @ 6Khz approx under Soundlab and seems to be OK)

Bumpy's Arcade Fantasy's - original MIDI file taken from disk. The BSP file is the sound bank with the samples in it .. anyone know which package saves out files of this type?

Bob Morane's Ocean is a set of sample riffs which are stitched together to make the title track.

Same method used on Mach 3, Captain Blood, Turbo Cup and almost any othe early French title with digital music for the Atari ST.

If memory serves as almost sure all done by same few composers?

Other Bob Morane stuff (if not using chip music) will probably also have "stitch-em-up" riffs.

MUG YOU'RE A GOD!!! :) Im glad to have you onboard :)

ok for the Alien World module... it seems the samples were packed...
that rip is not correct :) Aldn has experienced the same probs with some mods but managed it in the end... maybe we can ask him.

Bunny Bricks... just checked it again... there is digisound in the intro... sounds like samples in my opinion...

btw i made this thread - sticky :)

OK so will wait for Aldn and see what he comes up with.

Didn't try any of the games on STE mode within STEEM so that could be why the samples don't play (STE only?).

Also with the likes of Bob Morane, you could probably import the samples into a soundtrack and "remake" the tune yourself? Same with all the others I mentioned released at that time. Tonic Tiles would also be another one where it's just a set of riffs stitched together.

MUG... as mentioned in the rips list I use TOS 1.62 (STE)... maybe just try it with steem and you will see.

Soundtracks:
Yeah I can do that when all the samples are below 60 KB ... thats the
sample size limit of protracker. So if you have a game with only
samples and all are under 60kb please just name them sample1.. sample2... I can try to put up a protracker song then :)

OK .. that's a bit more work. If you listen to Bob Morane under one copy of STEEM and have Soundlab open on another copy with the ripped SPL chunks .. you should be able to get a tune together.

Will wade through and do all the .SPL ones tonight and get them up as soon as I can tonight.

Mug: ok lets give it a try... but you sent me one big sample from bob morane... not single ones.

btw can you please figure out which kind of music is used in this intro?
I think its a Ripped-Off-fake project and guess its Quartet or Mr. Music.

Haven't got the time to split the Bob Morane one .. there's about 8-10 parts in the one file. Use Soundlab to split them down. I'd rather leave it to a musician like yourself than break them at the wrong part.

Also due to the problems with Atari Legend at the mo, I can't upload any new files or download the one above.

So done (but not yet uploaded):

Championship Run (.MOD)
Chariots Of Wrath (looped sample riffs, but all stored as separate files on the disk - Sx.SPL!)
Corporation Megademo - Intro (2 .MODs found)
Double-D demo - Intro (Quartet format)

All the music... Hmmm

The sample comes from the original game by Toni Greenwood. It is 69022 bytes.

The chip tune, well, let me think... I used it in the Demonstures demo the first time... Ah.. It is Gates of Jambala Level 3 from Jochen Hippel.

The game-over music comes from a file 'dsots_01.mus'.When I look at the init routine from the music ripper I used the music is a also from Mad Max. Found it in my ym collection. It is DragonflightSomething2.

The rest of the sound comes from kill.mus and is count zero musix. Beginning and end from the file: "Nic Alderton (Count Zero) 11/12/90.Phone 071-4..." and "(C) Nic Alderton & Ray Norrish 1990/1991".

Hope this helps.

Sidewinder is not so exotic. They are just samples. The samples are as seperate files on the game disk available.

Just converted the 2 TCB modules from GERM CRAZY and HYPNOTIC LAND to PROTRACKER... they worked fine... HYPNOTIC LAND sounds poo but when I checked out the real game it sounds poo there either :)

concerning the samples of some games it might be a bit harder to
put them into modules as I expected... when I loaded them into protracker it sounded horrible...

the HLAND sample works fine in Protracker but its a little bit too long as the size limit for samples in protracker is 60KB ...
