Ambermoon Soundtrack (ATARI ST version)

Postby AtariFan » Wed Jun 12, 2019 8:55 pm

The last big project Big Alec of Delta Force worked on for Thalion, but which never got completed, was the Atari ST soundtrack for Ambermoon.
Unfortunately, the project got cancelled before the music was finished, but about a dozen or so tunes were completed (according to interviews with Richard Karsmakers for ST News Vol 8 Issue 2 and Marco Breddin for Rockabit Micromusic):

    Mellow camel funk
    Ship
    Don't look Bach
    Plodding along
    Nobody's vault but mine
    Voice of the bagpipe
    Whole lotta dove
    Sapphire fireballs of pure love
    Compact Disc
    La crypta strangiato
    Downtown
    Horse is no disgrace
    Capital
    Riverside travelling tune

The tracks were made by Big Alec using his Triplex soundeditor and can be downloaded from my website with his permission (ZIP contains sound files and Triplex soundeditor for playback).

AmberSTar is probably my favorite game on ST!

And music in AmberStar made is a really special. Jochen Hippel made it.

So Big Alec of Delta Force worked on these track for AmberMoon? Nice.

btw
I am also big fan of AmberStar (and other games) remixes by ACC:Xess (and his video clips!) e.g. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKcuzliX6_0

EDIT:
crap. What is SND player for Mac OS X? I had one but I forgot it's name...

The original Amiga music of Ambermoon (and No second prize) was done by Matthias Steinwachs and converted to the Atari ST by Big Alec.

This is so fantastic, thanks a lot! Just listened to the tunes and dreamt of what might have been, if Thalion finished porting Ambermoon to the ST...

Amberstar and Ambermoon being my favourite games on either systems I wish somebody would port the latter to the Atari. It is believed that there does exist a dungeon demo for the ST (even saw it on youtube), but I couldn't find it anywhere.

The tunes are absolutely awesome and true to the Amiga original. So cool to have the Atari version! Are there maybe any more or is that definately everything there is?

Anyway thanks a lot for this, really made my day :D

To replay to myself:
XSC http://xsc.atari.org/and Audio Overloard are players of SND for Mac OS X but neither of it wont open any SND from Ambermoon :(

Attention guys, those files aren't SNDH files. These are music data files specific to Big Alec Triplex tracker.
Extension is the same, but content isn't (history and non public releases can result in such overlapping choices i guess ;) ).
To became SNDH files re-playable by SNDH players, those should be converted.
Presumably GwEm's converter here should work ("sndhconv.zip"), as it handles Triplex : http://sndplayer.atari.org/downloads.php

How is this possible? This is recorded on some ST emulator?? (on Amiga 500 Ambermoon 3D part is like slideshow...)

Do you have TOS exec. files?

Ilja of Level 16 recorded the video from an ATARI Falcon030, if I remember correctly. I don't have a TOS-/PRG-file - just a video file this clip was part of.

@atarifan do you see any chance to get the prg-files from this Ilja? This would be just awesome.

Someone already did three years ago:

Amberstar 2 Preview

Ilja was only the one recording the video while someone else was running the demonstration. I'd have to search for my backup of the full length video to identify this person. But even if I succeed, the chances to obtain the PRG-file are IMHO pretty slim.
