YM musics using envelopes to test YM emulator

Hi

Just wondering if there are any YM files that actually use the envelope genorator to use variable volumes, rather than fixed (registers 8,9,10, 5th bit = 1).

I'm in the processes of using MikeJ YM VHDL "linear mix" as a basis for a ym chip emulator - and am using .yms to test my code. (Just to see if using vhdl sources can be used to derive code in traditional programming languages).

So far, I haven't managed to find any YM's which use the envelope for the volumes.

I've not done too much YM tunes yet, but would recommend you look at the YM Rockerz SNDH archive, @ creamhq.de (i think!)

Only about every other tune there is. The buzzer sound is done using a high frequency volume envelope.

Thats what I thought - but what I've tried (xenon/eliminator) don't seem to? I guess I'll check my ym loading against st-sound, as I'm probably doing something wrong.

Most tunes in commercial games don't use the buzzer sound. You should look more into the demoscene productions for more variety on the usage of the YM chip. SNDH archive is your best help with that: http://sndh.atari.org.

Hi i have send you a few ym-tunes that uses buzzer sound.
i don't know if it was something like that you needed. if you need more let me know.

Thanks for the sample files (there was a bug with my ym loading.) Once I've got the envelopes sorted via YM then I'll take a look at sndh.
