Medium resolution with 16 colors.

Postby SoLo2 » Wed Jul 20, 2011 6:24 pm

Hello!

For the second time I find a screen
that looks like medium resolution
with 16 colors.

This time refers to the inbetween
phases beautiful picture screens
in Shadow Of The Beast.

There is also some game presentation
screen with that graphics mode.

Is that possible?
Am I hallucinating?

Goodbye,
BITS

Hello Solo,

Where have you found such a screen? Can´t find something like that in Shadow of the Beast.

I only know some screens which uses interlacing to get 320*400. Or you can use raster splits in 640*200 to get more colours.

And of course our HighResMode with 640*398 and a lot of colours. http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=12237

This demo had some enhanced resolution/palette thing going on with the between-screen picture captions, which made me think "medium res and more colours" for some reason.

I remember the car selection screens in Accolade's Test Drive had low resolution cars on the top half, and medium resolution limited colour text/details on the bottom half.

Suspicious Cargo also had mixed low/med res on the screen at the same time.

The "in between" screens in Shadow Of The Beast are split resolution. Most of the screen is in normal low res with 16 colours and the bottom part with the scroller is in medium res.
