I bought two a few months ago, just patiently waiting since all my machines are in storage while I move house.

Beta testing is a good thing, so it's not a problem to wait a bit more :)

It seems to be ready

Postby Nyh » Tue Aug 07, 2007 8:04 am

I received today a very intresting mail in my mailbox:
Hello to all SatanDisk customers,

it's the right time to log in our system to verify that your postal
address is correct, because the 'Big bang' will happen in the next few days:

- if your address is OK, leave it so and don't tell us
- if your address is wrong, fix it and don't tell us ;-)
- and for Christ's sake, those who still have some national characters / diacritics
in their address, please remove them or your packet may miss your home...
If you realy don't know what I'm talking about, then go to:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diacritic

Hopefully within the next two weeks the 'Big bang' will be over, so you should check
your status in the preorder system from time to time...

With regards,
MiKRO & -XI-

I wonder if they have serial numbers on them. It would be neat to see where they end up in, oh, ten years. Just a historical interest. Seeing that pile and knowing it'll be scattered all over the planet in a very short time :D

I'm trying to figure out a better way than old floppies to transfer stuff onto the SD card. If you create a Dos partition, will you be able to extract .ST images onto that partition in Windows and then to move it onto the ST partition? Or is the Dos partition visible in ST?

If you use HDDriver, there's an option to select dos/tos compatible. I tried it before and both atari and pc can access the hd. I don't think the Atari will see just a plain dos partition.

I'd use network for transfering files.
Not too fast, but you don't have to use floppies.

TOS/Windows option in HDDriver worked fine for me on my 512Mb card (and it's readable under Linux as I found out at the Evoke party last weekend) but I had problems (see previous posts) with other sized cards.

But those cards are fine in plain old ST format but they won't read on a PC straight off. You'll need to use Ppera's tools to extract that information.

You'll love it when it's connected and working. Been happily MSA'ing up disks by the bucketful when spare time permits. Keeps Marcer happy too as I keep finding gems here and there.
My main site: http://www.mug-uk.co.uk - slowly digging up the bits from my past (and re-working a few): Atari ST, Sega 8-bit (game hacks) and NDS (Music ripping guide).

I develop a free Word (for Windows) add-in that's available for Word 2007 upwards. It's a fix-it toolbox that will allow power Word users to fix document errors. You can find it at: http://www.mikestoolbox.co.uk

Thanks! I took the time to go through the whole thread and found the answer to my question.

If you have several partitions on an SD card, does it make any difference from the PC point of view, which partition is the TOS/Windows one? Does it have to be the primary or can it be any one? This, assuming of course, that I don't just make all the partitions TOS/Windows compatible.

Windows (XP) will only see the first partition so I would think in order to copy stuff onto it and get it off again on the Atari the first partition would need to be a TOS/Win one.

The HDDriver software can be purchased from it's developer Dr. Uwe Seimet:
http://www.seimet.de/atari/en/hddriver.html
I hope he can sell some drivers to this community.

You can't have several partitions if you choose the TOS/DOS combined format. Only one partition is allowed.

Moreover if you use BIGDOS on ST you can read/write SDCards formated on a PC/Windows (FAT32 I guess).

Little question... when I switch off the STe, the blue led of the SatanDisk stays lit on. Is that normal?
