I'm having an S
urday (see what I did there!?), trying to get a few very old ST disks & files on to my PC - old ST Pics, Demos and other junk from 28 years ago.frankly, I'm amazed she still works after 28 years, but work she does!
I've no longer got a PC with a floppy drive. I have a USB floppy drive, but it turns out that's about as much use as chocolate fireguard
I have a floppy drive IDE slot on my PC motherboard so I've just been scouring ebay looking for an old internal drive. Then it struck me! The ST floppy drives are not 1,000,000 miles from PC floppy drives right? Can I take the floppy drive out of my ST and plug it into my PC, then use that magic software (the name of which I forget as I last used it about 20 years ago) to build images of my ST disks.
So my question is, is this plain lunacy or does it work? If it does work, do I need to switch a jumper on the ST drive to set 'LOGICAL UNIT' to 1(B) from 0(A) as mentioned in this post http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=14049
? Is that the jumper in the pic below - moving it from left to right?
Or am I better off sticking with Plan A and getting an old drive off ebay? Any help, guidance much appreciated.
