netusbee repair

Postby Mark_G » Sat Aug 19, 2017 12:51 am

Hello,

I've 2 netusbee's from the first batch, made in 2006.
In the past I used the network adapter, and the USB adapter with a "Microsoft wheel mouse optical".
As USBdriver I used umouse from Jan Thomas.
This configuration worked fine on my TT for years.

Recently, I don't know what I've done, but now the USB adapter don't work anymore.
The mouse is not recognized, and one netusbee becomes very hot.
However, the network part still seems to work. (I can ping my router).

So, I think there would be a hardware fault, an now come the questions :)
- What components are sensitive, and how can I check them ?
- Can some-one check them for me :) ?
- Should I repair them or better buy new ones ?
- Is there still someone making and selling them ?

I didn't follow this for years, so are there new USB drivers for the netusbee, or is umouse the only one ?

Kind regards,

Mark

i tried to repair a NetUSBee, i could not not find the problem after replacing almost every IC on the board. your best bet is get a new one, that's my opinion. but check all your drivers first before you do anything.

I have no experience with Netusbee, but it could happen that failures you are seeing are caused by something failing inside your TT. I would first check contacts on your ROM ports, they could be oxidated to the point that some contact is not reliable anymore. Or perhaps some capacitor could be out of spec as well.

Hello,

Thanks for the advice.
Yesterday night (technically-today in the early morning), I checked both of them on my falcon, with the same results.
So, the possibility that the failure is on TT, is ruled out.

Kind regards,

Mark

Is it powered with extral power supply, or via ROM port itself?
