JoyFi - wireless joystick adapter

Postby troed » Tue Feb 28, 2017 5:32 pm

(This project is made by a well known person in the Swedish retro computing scene. While the page says C64/Amiga it's of course signal compatible with Atari and has been tested on a Falcon. Posting it here for wider knowledge outside of Sweden)

JoyFi - sender and receiver. Plug one part into joystick port 1 (and with a flat cable also to port 2) and then the other part you plug your joysticks into - and a 9V batteri. Wireless retro gaming.

Does not support paddles or mouse.

He ships internationally.

Looks good, Dal and I started experimenting with something similar about 4 years ago. Glad someone has brought the idea we had to life and for a decent price at only £25/£18. Very good.

Thanks for sharing this.

So, I bought and assembled the JoyFi adapter, unfortunately the slave board won't fit in the area where the Atari joystick/mouse ports are because of the way it is designed. Think I will need to add another ribbon cable in place of the port that is soldered to the board.

It's made for all compatible joystick ports - not ST specifically. Designing for every type is quite difficult (Mega ST keyboard likely won't fit, Mega STE works fine).

With that said, it's of course good feedback for eventual future editions.

It has indeed been tested on Atari (Falcon) by another person who bought it. I'm assuming that person used one of the very common joystick extender cables.

It also will not fit an Amiga 600 either because of the metal joystick port holes, for which you will also need these
