Anyone still using SyQuest 44MB drives?

Postby galax » Wed Jul 09, 2014 8:57 pm

I've got a few SyQuest 44MB cartridges and have no way to read them, I'd be happy to pay to ship them to someone if you can send me back any data that is readable. You can keep the cartridges.

I have a SyQuest 135Mb drive, but I don't think they're compatible... :(
Atarian since 1989. Atari 1040STFM, 4MB 520STe with UltraSatan and Unitor N, A dodgy 1 MBSTe that bombs out after a few minutes, and a 14MB 48MHz Falcon 030 with NetUSBee and Soundpool 8 channel DAC. Plus my new MiST!

You can't read them meaning you no longer have the drive or the disk cannot be read ?

Last time I checked my disk was back in 2012 and they are all OK except one making a snapping sound.
Those disk are durable as they are made to withstand removal and transporting.
Each disk has it's own head and if sealing/vacuum during run time is still intact it should be able to read/write them.
So if you cannot read it due to this, putting on another drive will also not work.

Unfortunately, I have packed them all into the cupboard including my Falc as I am mostly on my FB nowadays.
My Stuff: FB/Falcon CT63+CTPCI ATI R7500 14+512MB 30GB HDD CF HxC_SD EtherNEC/ TT030 68882 4+32MB 520MB Nova/ 520STFM 4MB Tos206 SCSI

I don't have a SyQuest reader, I received them as part of a big lot of software and want to see if anything can be recovered from them.

If you haven't got it all sorted yet, I have a couple of SyQuest 44 drives as well.
