Rgb to via arcade converters

Guys jump on ebay you will loads of them were thinking about using one for colour mode on a vga monitor....has any one done it?

Yes and they have been talked about here before.

Video output quality is poor IMHO and everything gets sampled up to 60hz killing smooth scrolling in euro demos and games.

They look ok when on old consoles...SNES and megadrives judging by YouTube

Yep that's the one, poor output IMO, shimmering (digital artifacts) around mouse pointer and drop down menus etc... not good :(
