I'm adding an accelerator to a Mega ST, so need to remove the CPU.
It looks like the 'blitter' fix board is attached to the CPU on this system. I'm not using
the blitter, so I can remove this and the 'fix', but from memory I think there is a link
or something that needs to be re-soldered for this to work?
Does anyone know what the fix is?
Thanks
Ian.

Re: Removing the blitter fix from a Mega ST
i was actually told that the add on fix that sits ontop of the CPU is to do with the CPU, a bug or error with a batch of motorolla processors, and it was only in some mega st's too
i have a mega st 4 here with no add on, and no there was never one in there in the first place, yes it has a blitter chip installed too
unless anyone knows otherwise

Re: Removing the blitter fix from a Mega ST
I always thought it was the blitter fix even back in the press at the time (i'm sure i've seen an official Atari doc release for the mod), who told you/where's the info to say otherwise. Just interested.Chandler wrote:i was actually told that the add on fix that sits ontop of the CPU is to do with the CPU, a bug or error with a batch of motorolla processors, and it was only in some mega st's too

What I've found is that if you remove the fix board, and the blitter, nothing works so
its hard to upgrade these boards.
