Network configuration problem with MiNTNet

Postby Xerus » Mon Mar 12, 2018 10:09 pm

Hello,

First here is my configuration: FalconCT60 + VanillaMiNT (latest version 1.19) + Pocket Ethernet.
Problem: I can't access other machines on my network.

Everything is connected to my Internet Box, PCs (RJ45), tablets (WIFI), Smartphone (WIFI) and Falcon (RJ45).
My Box has for address 192.168.1.1, the internal firewall is disabled and the other machines have addresses like 192.168.1.13 (PC/Windows), 192.168.1.15 (Falcon), etc.

If I ping the Box, everything is fine, I get all the packets and I can surf on Internet with Nesturf / Highwire.
But if I want to ping an other device (ex 192.168.1.13) behind the Box, there is nothing and vice versa, if I ping from my PC to the Falcon, no recieve (100% loss packet).

My network settings looks good for me:
Address 192.168.1.15
Gateway 192.168.1.1
Netmask 255.255.255.0
DNS 80.10.246.7

I have the same problem in static IP or in DCHP, even if for this case (when I do a ping) it recognizes the name I gave to my computers.

Clarification: I don't have this problem when I use the Falcon with only the TOS + STING, I have access to all devices of the network (PING, FTP transfer, etc.).

Does anyone have an idea to resolve my issue?

So I guess also ping from the phone/table to the PC works?

I just tested with my phone and yes, it works well between the smartphone and the PC. A ping with smartphone to Falcon, nothing :?

Look at https://sites.google.com/site/probehous ... h-ethernec at the bottom of the page, may be your router does not route back internal ip address, so the last configuration line may help.

I added the last line of your excellent tutorial but I had an error message at the boot "network unreachable".
As I use VanillaMiNT I changed my strategy and I added in NETWORK.CNF the following line:
exec c:\mint\sys\net\route.ttp add 192.168.1.0 en0

...and it works !!!
Big thanks Wongck (and Mikro)
My setup is fully operational, maybe I'll put STING in retirement...

How is your network set up? Static routing or DHCP?
Edit: I just noticed in your first post that you have the same problem with DHCP too. So I will update netconf.prg accordingly.

Please note that network.cnf will be overwritten if you change network settings with network.cnf. You should rather add this line to mint.cnf after the "include network.cnf" line.

Btw I have just updated netconf.prg to add this route automatically when using manual network setup.

Please replace your current netconf.prg with this one, and reconfigure networking with it. If you have added the manual route in mint.cnf then delete or disable it. Does your network work correctly now?

In DHCP it doesn't work.
By cons with my configuration (static), your change works perfectly.
Thank you
