Comparison with MinT, Magic, Geneva and so on .... I have a basic Falcon with 14 Mo RAM, IDE, SCSI and Iomega drives. I think install the system on a Iomega 1 or 2 Go cardridge.
As always, it is safe to say: It depends.
I have used NetBSD in the past on a 68030/16 MHz machine, and it has been perfectly usable within my (limited) expectations. telnet, pine, twm, a bit of gcc 2.95.x, ngircd, irssi, screen, graphviz/dot, nroff, LaTeX -- all good.
SSH v2: not useable at all. SSL: not useable at all. Firefox: don’t even think about firing it up.
And you can‘t really compare NetBSD to Geneva, MagiC and so on. These will run all your beloved GEM programs, NetBSD won’t. NetBSD is POSIX compatible, OTOH, and MagiC and Geneva aren’t, and MiNT not really.
