Geneva Installation

Postby robertmc » Sun Nov 19, 2017 12:25 am

I have attempted to install Geneva with a single floppy (emulated) and it has me confused. The manual states these files/folders should be present after running the installer (v1.06):

ROOT/AUTO/JAR10.PRG
ROOT/AUTO/GENEVA.PRG
ROOT/GENEVA/GEM.CNF
ROOT/GENEVA/GENEVA.CNF
ROOT/GENEVA/GNVA_TOS.PRG
ROOT/GENEVA/GNVA_TOS.RSC
ROOT/GENEVA/GNVAHELP.PRG
ROOT/GENEVA/GNVAHELP.RSC
ROOT/GENEVA/TASKMAN.HLP
ROOT/GENEVA/GENEVA.HLP
ROOT/GENEVA/GNVA_TOS.HLP
ROOT/GENEVA/GNVAHELP.HLP
ROOT/TASKMAN.ACC
ROOT/TASKMAN.RSC

However this is what the installer leaves:
ROOT/AUTO/JAR10.PRG
ROOT/AUTO/GENEVA.PRG
ROOT/TASKMAN.ACC
ROOT/TASKMAN.RSC

There is a step that gets me everytime, where it asks to point to the Geneva folder to write to. Why does the installer not create one if it needs it?

Anyways, if I do create it before install like this:
ROOT/AUTO
ROOT/GENEVA

After install I get:
ROOT/AUTO/JAR10.PRG
ROOT/AUTO/GENEVA.PRG
ROOT/GENEVA/GEM.CNF
ROOT/TASKMAN.ACC
ROOT/TASKMAN.RSC

Has anyone else struggled with this install?

Bobby

Yes, This is what i get. It gets worse if you want to add NeoDesk 4 into the mix, as they suggest you do. That's why I have asked a couple times over the years if someone would post a drive image of a complete working install. No takers yet. Though my disks appear to have been used in a previous life install. Possibly there are missing/corrupt files from our install disks? Perhaps if the previous owner use A: instead of C: during their install they might have messed up the original disk?

OK, that's good to know. I resorted to building a ST image manually from the manual's directory.

Before I copied JARXXX.PRG into the image I renamed it JAR10.PRG

For those that don't know, it doesn't appear to matter what number you use as long as it's between 0-99. Please someone correct me if they know of a reason you can't just rename the JARXXX.PRG
