Hmmm, yes. We have Selectric already in our list. Is there any good reason why we should add this too? I mean, better performance, less memory usage, etc.? Thanks a lot.

Maxidisk is reset-proof, but you have to run the driver program after rebooting to make it accessible again. I wonder if the "auto-install" option for M-Disk means that this part is not necessary? That'd be very cool!

Well, if you use it for selecting a File... then anyone will do actually.
It seems that Selectric has slightly more function... and looks nicer.
Normally what happens is that I test a new s/w and just too lazy to roll back, if nothing goes wrong.
It just got stuck until the next one comes along... boxkite which seems to work for Mint.
Frankly, I have not tried Selectric with Mint.

I tried M-Disk on Steem, but after reboot my M drive dissappeared, even I saved the desktop. But rockyone is reporting that he got it working, and the M drive wasn't empty after reboot, so I guess I'm doing something wrong. I'll give it a try on my Atari to be 100% sure.

Yes I think you're right.... on both counts
TT030: 4MB/16MB + Crazy Dots, Mega"SST" 12, MegaSTE, STE: Desktopper case, IDE interface, UltraSatan (8GB + 512Mb) + HXC floppy emulator. Plus some STE's/STFM's

Hehe, in Opera it shows up with zero entries... weird. Thought it was a joke at first :P

Used probably most of those utilities at one time or another. Except:

Code: Select all

dcnoalrt.lzh   No alert.  Assumes yes for all alert boxes
Wonder what those clever DC lads are doing now?

No joke.... Chrome came with full listings on first time round.
Glad you found the solution to the zero entries.

I was just looking through this and thought I'd add a couple of suggestions for a section to add, I was thinking in terms of auto program patches like folderXXX.prg or startgem, or maybe cacheon.prg/cacheoff.prg or the one that turned that blasted keyclick off on boot? Also Pinhead, that force media change prg and poolfix.prg (for TOS 1.04) spring to mind. Some of these are pretty essential (particularly folderXX I would say, unless you're using HD Driver).

Also your entry for UIS III has screenshots of the normal GEM/TOS file selector, rather than UIS, which doesn't look anything like GEM's version. :)

Here's Townsend's list of TOS fixes.
IMHO, there are some stuff missing like FASTFAT for faster FAT lookup access on HDD for TOS less than 1.04.

Not even heard of that one, sounds like something I could do with for some of my TOS pensioners! Can you point me to a download?

 FASTFAT? don't blame you cause it's actually called FATSPEED... sorry it has been some time.
Only remember it because I boot up my old STFM with my Syquest last year and they were loaded during the test.
I would have forgoten them as well

Since I don't have the archive I zipped the one on my SQ555 here.
