NVDI 5

Hi

Is there way I can get older version of NVDI or Turbo ST or Wrap 9?'
I've been searching for them but had no luck
my atari is 1040 STE (1.62 TOS) with 4MB ram with floppy (720KB) drive only
I just want to have screen acceleration for using Cubase MIDI sequencer
It seems I can't really use or need NVDI 5 for my setup
Any help will be very appreciated

Its my free Rapid share,so neither should you have a problem downloading it.

Keeps on getting IP already in use error.... when ever I try it.

I've found this with the occasional files on RapidShare and there is no solution, other than downloading from another location that uses a different ISP. Both my best friend and I are on the same ISP but in different locations and we still get the same IP in use message. However if he tries downloading the same files from his work location that uses a different ISP, he has no problems. I could try IP proxies but it would still involve your ISP at some stage of the journey.

I tried using a proxy but it keeps getting to the same download page instead of downloading.

FYI

I recently downloaded the Warp 9 software from source site, and the archive or at least the disk I copied it onto was infected with the 'Ghost virus'.

This was eradicated with UVK.

"Turbo ST", "Quick ST", "Warp 9" are software screen-output accelerators only.
Basically, yes they are faster version of graphics output of GEM.
NVDI is similar except that there are more features on it - printer support, GDOS etc...

I remember using "Turbo ST" & "Quick ST" back in 1987/88 when I started using the ST.
Warp 9 came out later and so it improves on the 2 above.
But by then NVDI is out and I started testing out NVDI. I never used Warp 9, so can't tell what are the benefits.
NVDI does not need me to load in SpeedoGDOS to have GDOS.
Also I cannot remember the compatibility of "Turbo ST" or "Quick ST" on Mint.
But NVDI works for me with MiNT.
I am sure that "Turbo ST", "Quick ST" works for Falcon on TOS.

Very true! Blink and you miss it! espcially running in mono!

This is not entirely accurate. The TOS VDI *is* largely written in assembler, and is optimized for size, not speed. I wouldn't be surprised if a good C compiler would do a better job, because the original code is so horribly inefficient (despite the fact that they applied butt ugly solutions like self modifying code).

See for yourself, it's all in the leaked VDI sources. Make sure to have a basket nearby, in case you need to vomit.
