I'm not having any luck getting the joystick to work on Revival Studios games for the ZX81.

I've tried all the joystick settings in the OSD.

Edit your ZX81 games to add color and edit characters using a free tool called "Chroma Program Enhancement Creator". I edited a game called Down! by Revival-Studios. Links to the tool can be found in the video description.

Video shows before and after the edit.

Looks not bad. But i think it's not so colorization friendly game as it uses mostly pseudographics which is mostly repeated all over the screen, so basically the whole screen is the same color.
It's better to use some game using more different chars, so it will look more colorful. Also you can change the chars and use .chr file.
KrazyKong is good example of how much original graphics can be changed

I added color and updated some Characters on two more ZX81 games using "Chroma Program Enhancement Creator".

Stair Runner: https://youtu.be/4DLiq7XFydA

Mazeman: https://youtu.be/r-2tcTq9FY0

I've attached the .chr and .col files I created for Down!, Stair Runner, and Mazeman if anyone wants them. You will need the .p files (not included).
