1942 core for MiST released!

Postby jotego » Tue Feb 19, 2019 6:01 pm

I have made a core for the 1942 arcade faithful to the available schematics. This is like playing the arcade, including the 90º flipped monitor 8O
I may add rotation at some stage in the future as I plan to develop more vertical arcades.

Please find the zip file for this here. The source code is in the same repository as my previous Ghosts'n Goblins core (here)

Enjoy!

I did it now.. you need (at least for how i could do it) :

1) copy all files in a root hdd directory of your PC
2) copy 1942.zip taken from a Mame\roms dir (DON'T UNZIP IT!)
3) put in same folder 7za.* (3 files taken from https://www.7-zip.org/a/7z1806-extra.7z)
4) launch .bat file
5) rename a.1942.rom to JT1942.rom
6) put .RBF and JT1942.ROM files into your Mist / Mistica root SD card
7) enjoy it ^_^

What do you mean by "swap audio entry"?

Thank you very much for the explanation! I forgot to tell about changing the name of the file. The a.1942.rom is the name used in MiSTer.

Fantastic work, thanks Jotego!

A tiny little bug that I have noticed: the "Screen Filter" option values are swapped, OFF means ON and vice versa.

I confirm this. But 15kHz and YPbPr is fine in the latest git.

I have fixed the 15kHz output and OFF/ON display of screen filter option. Thanks for the inputs!

Find the zip files here. Grab the jt*_20190221.zip files.

By the way, remember that 1942 core has a new pause feature. Press P on the keyboard or your 5th gamepad button to go into the game pause. This uses a DIP switch that served this purpose on the original hardware so it is not a hack.

Added to the sidebar of the MiST wiki!
Just one note: you have a releases directory in the git repo, and the releases area of github which has only the source code zipped. A bit confusing.

You are right. The release tab of Github is for the full repository so it is of interest to developers only. The release folder has the binaries for users. May I should provide a page with links or something to make it easier to understand. Thanks!

There are still some bugs and glitches on 1942, :

Sometimes the airplane is destroyed without any projectile hitting it or better projectiles are hidden sometimes so it's not possible avoid them

For glitches see attached image

There probably was a SDRAM access problem with that version and your board. Please get the latest files.
