Quartus Compilation Questions

Postby retrorepair » Sat Sep 01, 2018 2:51 pm

Hey guys

I'm interested in tinkering with some cores and I've got quartus installed but any change takes forever to compile, no matter how small. Is there a way to only compile changes in quartus or do I have to synthesize every time? I tried rapid recompile but it always errors out so always have to do the full compilation/synthesis.

I depends on the core, for me it can take from 2 minutes to 10. Lots of cores are not properly constrained (or not constrained at all), and Quartus can take considerable amount of time to optimize the nothing.
