.iso support ?

Postby ccarl84 » Sun Nov 27, 2016 5:27 pm

Good evening the community,
I do not know if the question had been asked. Do you think it will be possible to mount .iso images to simulate CD / DVD?

Good, good work !

I love CE [smilie=greencolorz4_pdt_12.gif]

That should be easy to simulate a CD/DVD but I don't have a CDROM driver on my ST.

Hello,

What do you mind about "CDROM driver" ?

Like Metados or Extendos, Spin or other ?

Thanks

Hello,

What do we need to find you? I think some CD-ROM drivers are "free" or abandoned.

A particular file type?

see you.

Well I never used a CDROM on atari. What is the point in emulating CDROM vs using a translated drive? I mean is there any application needing a CDROM?

I think emulate an .iso, it's well for all compil in .iso. Sure, we can copy from CD-ROM to translated drive, but when we have more CD-ROM in .iso, it's great to mount a .iso file to check what we want to use ...

Why just not mount that .iso on Raspberry Pi and access it through translated drive (using CE_DD)? Yes, that would need some development to add this kind of mounting in CE, but the rest (access through CE_DD) is already done. I'm not sure if that mount would work on Yocto, but it should work on Raspbian....

Code: Select all

mount -t iso9660 -o loop /home/tecmint/Fedora-18-i386-DVD.iso /mnt/iso/

I'm not speaking of copying, just mounting.

Yeah, this should work out of the box but requires a bit of command line preparation:
- setup a samba/nfs connection between the RPi and your PC
- mount the ISO via the shared connection (to avoid copying to the tight RPi SD card) to a RPi folder
- define the shared path in CE_CONF
- use the ISO :)
