CosmosEx SCSI and TT

Postby Cyprian » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:14 am

I faced some issues with my a new CosmosEx SCSI:
    - Shared drive doesn't work with TT. There is no drive Icons on the desktop. On exactly the same setup, CosmosEx ACSI (bought more than one year ago ) works fine with TT;
    - DD floppy images work ok, HD don't work;
    - When I use only Shared drive, and it's settings are wrong (e.g. wrong name of shared folder) then the computer boots to the desktop without CosmosEx config drive - "O" drive;
CosmosEx SCSI firmware is up-to-date.

Both my CosmosEx are listed as "Unknown" on the "DHCP Clients List". Would be cool to have possibility to define that name.
thanks

I need more details on this. Can your config tool (runned on TT) find your CE? What SCSI IDs you have set as what?

Yes, HD is not supported yet...

Hmm, this is a linux thing - how it identifies to DHCP server. I could add this option to define the name if I will find out how the DHCP identity is specified in linux.

Jookie, Cyprian you could do this by settings the hostname send by dhclient.

On the rpi, it's in

/etc/dhcp/dhcpclient.conf
just add

Code: Select all

send host-name "cosmosex";

Will try that on my CE tonight...

As there is no present "O" drive I confgured it via web. And I didn't set any SCSI ID. How can I do that?

Mr Nours wrote:/etc/dhcp/dhcpclient.conf

unfortunately there is no folder /etc/dhcp/
May I put that command in any other place? /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf ?

Ok i had checked now, the linux distro used by CE rpi doesn't uses dhcpclient, it uses udhcpc... so you got to edit this file by adding the green lines :
/etc/network/interfaces

# The loopback network interface
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback

# The primary network interface
auto eth0
iface eth0 inet dhcp
hostname cosmosex
# The wireless network interface
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
hostname cosmosex
wpa-conf /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf

And then your device should now appears as "cosmosex" in your DHCP server list. Please note that the first hostname directive is given for the wired connection and the second hostname for the wireless one.

Cheers,

Nrs.

I've just realized that option "ACSI IDs config" means "SCSI IDs config" :)

Shared drive works fine now.
Drive "O" works also thanks to ALT+O

Mr Nours, thank you, great find! :cheers: I will add that to the config somewhere so people won't have to edit that file manually.

I still have problems with CosmosEX SCSI on TT.

I have shared folder on the linux server. Inside that folder are: DIP3.TOS file and "DIP" folder" with DIP2.TOS file inside.

Windows machine properly see content of that share (DIP3.TOS / DIP2.TOS). CosmosEx console via SSH properly see content of that share also:
Following command shows correct content of that file:

Code: Select all

root@ce:/mnt/shared# more DIP3.TOS

Following commands show correct directory list and content of DIP2 file:

Code: Select all

t@ce:/mnt/shared# cd DIP
root@ce:/mnt/shared/DIP# ls -a
root@ce:/mnt/shared/DIP# more DIP2.TOS

From TOS side I can't open "DIP" folder and very often after double click on DIP3.TOS system shows me a dialog box: "DIP3.TOS nicht gefunden"

Cyprian,

Could you please post the content of your /etc/fstab file on the rpi ?

And try this :
chmod -R 777 /mnt/shared/DIM
reboot

and then try to access your files with your TT...

Cheers,

"chmod -R 777 /mnt/shared/DIP" did the job. Now I can open DIP folder from TT.
Interesting is that I could "CD" into that folder from CosmosEx SSH but not from TT desktop.

Code: Select all

root@ce:/mnt/shared/DIP# more /etc/fstab
# stock fstab - you probably want to override this with a machine specific one

/dev/root            /                    auto       defaults              1  1
proc                 /proc                proc       defaults              0  0
devpts               /dev/pts             devpts     mode=0620,gid=5       0  0
usbdevfs             /proc/bus/usb        usbdevfs   noauto                0  0
tmpfs                /run                 tmpfs      mode=0755,nodev,nosuid,strictatime 0  0
tmpfs                /var/volatile        tmpfs      defaults              0  0

# uncomment this if your device has a SD/MMC/Transflash slot
#/dev/mmcblk0p1       /media/card          auto       defaults,sync,noauto  0  0

Another issue. When I from TT desktop doubleclick "DIP.TOS" (which is in a root directory) I see strange message "Standardverzeichnis konnte nicht geöffnet werden" and "DIP.TOS nicht gefunden"

It's in the latest update, in the network settings. Single name is used for both ethernet and wifi (for now, until anyone complaints ;) ).
