Anyone used Ppera's HD driver?

Postby Gryzor » Sat Aug 30, 2014 5:43 pm

I was considering changing from ICD, but of course I find the €44 asked for HDDriver a bit (way too) steep. So I was wondering if anyone tried it? Does it work fine?

I do. It is simpler in operational logic than HDdriver, and its target is more specialised, so if you need a jack of all trades, u should go for HDdriver. But if qhat you need is a plain ACSI driver, then it is a very good choice.

Thanks for your reply.

Well, actually I'm not sure what I want/need in technical terms. All I know is I want to use a SD/USB as a HDD, and one of them should ideally be readable on the PC...

I use Ppera's driver for the SD cards that I load in my (old) Satandisk.
PC also read and write on those without any problem.

Thanks, @dma . I guess then that CosmosEx probably will be able to do that, as well, at least when I figure my way through raw/translated/whatever setting is required :)

For information I have tested PPDRIVER 1.0 and it works like a charm.
I still need to do more test but basic is there. FYI I have also tested HDD9.0 that remove the limitation to one DOS&TOS partition (something only PPD could do) ...

I am updating several of my documentations based on these tests ... results will be posted in my doc page http://info-coach.fr/atari/documents/myDoc.php
specifically the http://info-coach.fr/atari/documents/my ... 0Guide.pdf document

By the way PPera is working on an update that should be compatible with HDD 8.40+ and 9.x
So this version should be able to mount PPD as well as HDD DOS&TOS partitions.

I should get this version soon :)

That's great news indeed!

I'll wait for your guide, it'll be invaluable to me since I'm still neck-deep when it comes to ST HDDs...

Yup, I bought it and I'm very happy with it! Only issue is with CosmosEx it keeps reporting my USB drives as 2GB, but Jookie is looking into it I think...
