Nature recently presented the first prototype of their
(pic taken from Nature's site)
On their site they write
We're designing a Videl-replacement graphics card, which will connect to the CT60 bus slot. The card will be 100% compatible with the old Videl chip at the register level.
Do i take it right, that all software which was made for stock (no gfx-card) F030 will run on the Supervidel instead? I'm no coder, so that 'on the register level' hint is not clear to me.
If so, SuperVidel gives the user a Falcon060 with kind of a Videl that 'overclocks' to 225 MHz and this without stressing the bus because of 128 MB DDR2 dedicated screen memory?
If i understood all that right don't you agree this is just as exiting as the ct6x upgrade?
A proper screenmode description will get you decent resolutions for MiNT etc. and the
huge bandwidth of up to 1350MB/s will give you a fluid desktop experience (finally!)
Not even mentioned mpeg2 support and possible 3D acceleration...
I do look forward to SuperVidel, what about you? Or do more experienced Atarians see any cons i didn't realize?
