demogroups galaxy

Postby Askja » Mon Dec 14, 2015 9:18 pm

Hi all !

I need your help.
I am making a gigantic picture with all the logos of the demo/cracking teams on the ST and Falcon.
You can see here :
http://pandafox.fr/temp/logosST.jpg

462 logos until now!
The red lines = a group from...
The blue lines = at least 1 commun member

I need you to help me to complete it.
If you can tell me some links between groups or if I forgot groups...

Also, you can see the picture without the lines here :
http://pandafox.fr/temp/logosSTnolinks.jpg

Hi, very cool stuff !
As a former member, all links to/from NAOS seem suspicious to me. I don't remember that any of us was in any other group before or after NAOS. What's the source of this ?

I guess the source is basically demozoo.org where we collect all relationships that we find:

ATM was Starfix in The Fallen Angels ... which is 100% approved by him ;)

According to various sources Delos also was in Euphoria and Cyclades... unfortunatly i was not able to contact him... I'm trying to over 15 years now.

Nucleus has various group entries -> this might be wrong if it is a different Nuclues?

So, Hatem had a past... I had no idea lol

And yeah, there were 2 Nucleus back then:
Nucleus/Naos -> that's me.
Nucleus/Hemoroids -> that's the other, way more productive :)

Delos was a loose/late member, I don't think he released anything with us so that slipped my mind.

There was also a Naos screen in the Ventura demo and one in the Phaleon (but who wasn't in the Phaleon, really ?)

Greetings Nucleus :) Ok so I divided the entry into two profiles.

I guess it was ATM's secret because The Fallen Angels did more illegal things... but he revealed this recently to me on Facebook.

I wonder if you are in touch with Delos?

The other stuff by Naos will be added when I will be able to do the contents of the other megademos... there are far too few people who support the site.

ATM also was the link between ST Connexion and Naos. He did some of the GFX in some of our demos. And Ajrarn, he, & I were making a game together at one point. I also taught Aragorn some hardscrolling tricks (credited in the scrolltext of his Ventura demo IIRC).

Unfortunately you guess correctly.

Ajrarn made a nice level editor for it, which ATM got to play with I believe, and I had hardscrolling + soundtracker + 6301 code + the main ship sprite working for it, but little gameplay -- I did a lot of work on waitstates for it for instance.

But, University and family troubles got in the way. (Before email was common, being in the UK for University when everyone else was in France was a right pain: expensive and slow post, high pay-phone costs). I sure would have liked to have finished it though...

Lotek,

What do you want exactly at Delos ? I can ask him if you want but I really don't know why and sure, the past is the past

Hi Alien,

I made an article for the french magazine Programmez! about the Atari ST and the community.

With Zerkman, we maybe plan an another article about fullscreen synchronisation and sync lock explanations and I know you are the best people to talk about. And it's in english, of course I can translate but I know that you are a froggie like me

I saw Klaus at the STNICCC event and to talk that we have no news from you since a long time... hope to see you a next time ? Maybe in France ?

If I get the time to get a new monitor up and running, and if my SyQuest 44Mb cartridges are still readable, perhaps... Also would like to see if my overscan Pacmania code is still recoverable (the demo I originally started for the Punish Your Machine but had to abandon due to lack of time). But don't hold your breath!

Hi Zorro 2,

Nice to hear from you! Yes, I wanted to come to STNICCC, but couldn't make it. Colorado's quite far from Gouda, which makes for expensive flights! You're welcome to ask me about overscan either here, or by Private Message (I try to check them!). Mais bien sur, je peux aussi écrire en Français si besoin en est.

I've spoken a little to Klaus since the STNICCC (mostly about Troed's presentation :D and about who was there.)

Thanks all for help me for this project ! :)
The picture you can see is only a "WIP"
I started the final version but it takes a lot of time, probably I will finish it some weeks later.

I remember I had some (real)mails from Delos when he was starting to create "Cyclades". (I remember well because I was thinking, at this time, it was a strange name ! ahahah !)
But I do not know if this crew was really created and if released something. Do you know something about it ?

Cool! Nice idea! I can contribute with a Zenit logo, check your PM. We were a very small Swedish group, only I and my friend Filip. We only released two or maybe three simple demos, as I can recall it. Never did any cracking. We were however involved in the Atari copy party (or as we called them; ST conventions) scene in the south of Sweden and held a couple of fairly large parties in the late 80s :).
