Delirious Demo 3

Postby STFormatJez » Fri Jul 29, 2011 11:05 am

Hi,

Quick question re: my favorite STE demo of all time; the Delirious demo 3 aka; the disk drive breaker (though I used it regularly for many years with no issues - even if it did make some magical sounds as it was loading!).

Has anyone successfully got a PASTI image of this demo to run on STeem or Saint?

Thanks,
Jez

Yay! Tried Delirious demo 3 again with SainT 2.30 and it works! awesome. This screen (the main navigation menu) took me a short while to stitch together, but got there in the end...

Kool^ can you do it in STe mode too? 32678 colours? that looks like its got a limited palette!

Was there any hidden screens?

Hi, yeah, this is basically the 4,096 colour palate in this screen I've constructed, though it was taken from screen grabs of the menu in 32,768 mode.

I don't think it would be easy to build a screen of what the demo reckons it's displaying in full 32,768 colour mode. My understanding is - and this may be wrong!? - that the way it achieves 32,768 is by rapidly switching the palette. Screen grabs are doomed to failure as they only ever grab one point-in-time palate. I took these grabs while running in the 32,768 menu, but when you view at the menu in real-time, you don't see the defined bands of colour, yet when you look at the screen grab you took, there they are!

Nice pic !!!

No way to have a 32768 color pic, because of the flickering technik (only on the backscreen, playing with VBL interrupt)

and : there is no hidden screen in the sex shop (under 18 demo !!!) ;-)

I think all emulators run this demo now. Apparently the demo hits disk track 85, would this be the disk drive breaker?
