The one downloaded from DHS does not run and claims ST-LOW is not available. Both if started from ST-LOW and ST-MEDIUM...

Hello!

Seems to be the new Hatari 64bits
that is giving that problem.
Steem will work O.K.! :)

Greetings,

Hello,

have you tried your program on a *real* ST ?

Your code does :

move.b $ffff8260,d0
beq low_res_ok

This is wrong, the Atari's hardware manual says only bits 0 and 1 are valid, other bits can be random.
To read the resolution you must do

move.b $ffff8260,d0
and.b #3,d0
beq low_res_ok

(the TOS does that too to check the resolution)

Steem is wrong about this, it doesn't emulate those random bits, and so your program is wrong too and will certainly not work on many real Atari STF/STE as far as I know.

err... I think he was trying to help you resolve the issue SSB was having? Showing you which part of your program is incorrect does not constitute 'publishing' your source code.

Hmmm ?! Sorry, are you kidding ? Not only you're not able to write a correct routine to switch resolution on every STF/STE model, but you think I'm spying your code ?!
Do you think I have anything to learn from your demos ? Rest assured, I didn't even had a look to your demo, just that badly written part is enough for me.
Seriously, as for "publishing" your code, I don't think any sane person would even consider reusing this "great" resolution switching routine.

20 years ago or so, there was a name in the demo scene for people with so low demos skills but who thought they were ruling : lamers.

Surely if the code's already published in binary form, this is exactly equivalent to publishing it in disassembled form, since it's merely a different representation of the same thing?

I mean, you might as well argue "Don't post the text of my comment here. I posted it in ASCII originally."
