AN Cool demo

Postby viking272 » Tue Oct 14, 2008 8:38 pm

Hi all,

I'm racking my brains to remember a demo from AN Cool that was of a thrash metal band singing about Odin...
Does anyone recall it, its name or a link?

Cheers

Sounds like his M-Demos, they had metal songs in the intros, check http://www.pouet.net/ more for info :).. Correction, I think only M-Demo 3 and 4 had songs like that.. Here is a link that will take you directly to his demos http://www.pouet.net/groups.php?which=3423

Aarh of course. It's on M-Demo 3. Scary sound as I've got my speakers and Amp setup now!

Who were those bands he sampled for the intros for M-Demo 3 & 4?

Does anyone know?

I've been wondering about this ever since I got those demos back in 1993
So let it be written, So let it be done. I'm sent here by the chosen one.

I've seen those adverts for mobile phone services, where you play a song down the phone, they sample it and recognise it against their database and SMS you the details...

Do you think these songs are in their database?

I can just see some 13 year old teenybopper girls holding their phone up to Britney Spears on the TV and getting an SMS back saying something like "The Snork Demo reset screen music" :P

"WTF Jenny, that text cost me 5 euro!!!"

Actually I tried it on some of my really obscure psytrance and acid records and it was dead on every time, really cool :)

Really? I (unfairly) assumed that they would only cater for 80s-now pop music for teenage girls with daddy-funded mobile phones :D
I wonder how it deals with music with lots of old stolen samples (e.g. DJ Cam/Food/Jazzanova/etc hip-hop/electronica)...

I was in a car so the sound quality must have been far from good.. It sampled about 5 seconds and ten seconds later it said "Shaolin wooden men - Remember the slime", I was quite stunned :) I wonder how big their database is? and about the poor chap who has sampled all the cd's ;)

I can just imagine it was setup by one guy who has heard of all songs ever and has a photographic memory. He sits in the call centre all day listening to tunes and texting people back!!

It's probably some idiot savant like Kim Peek (the basis for the film "Rain Man"), who can't brush his teeth, but knows almost every piece of music ever played but responds unpredictably when something bad is played :)

"Meeeehhhh... Oasis... OASIS unnnhh... UNHHH ARGGHGH OASIS!!!! AAaaa! Aaaaa!" Yellow_Colorz_PDT_29
"Okay man, I'm changing it okay? It's okay, Oasis is gone now. There there." :coffe:

I've been wracking my brains over this. I couldn't even find a sample of it on YouTube until I stumbled on this page: http://www.retromaniax.gr/vb/showthread ... by-AN-COOL!

I have SoundHound on my phone, so I cranked up my speakers hit the "What's that song?" button and held my breath. The mystery is finally over...

Wow, what a journey and thanks so much. Had a good listen to it - perfect!

It's a classy demo (going back to M-Demo 3) and I love the naff animals with redraw problems then fading into slick music and gfx equalizers!
We ♥ AN Cool.

Thanks again GPinzone.
