Re: Atari 1040 STE video/graphics issues - help please!!!!

The most likely cause will be the monitor cable itself or the plug isn't pushed in firmly enough into the back of the ST. I've seen some instances where the cover around the plug fouls the casing of the ST and you need to wiggle a little to get it to go in. If it's not "that' simple, then check...

Re: I borked my 520ST Help?!?

The fact you're getting any display at all is good news. A lot has to work to even get any display up - so I'd say the 68000 itself is likely to be fine.

Re: Apollo Team announces developing of Vampire standalone version to run as AMIGA and ATARI ST

I think this thread has run its course. Those who actually want to contribute to such a project will find their own way of working with the Vampire team to make it real. Those who can't contribute but want the hardware will wait patiently with their cash in their fists. Those who don't care will jus...

Re: Modern OS-es, pros and contras, experiences with ..

I think a better question to have posed was "What OS do you use on your main machine?". This would be a little more direct - and this is how I interpreted the question, otherwise I would have ticked the "I use multiple OS" box and that doesn't really help you. That aside, I have ...

Re: 'communication problem with people'

I’ve been reading this thread with interest and wanted to see how it played out a little before responding. The way I see it, the Hatari team simply do not have anyone looking at Windows builds beyond making binaries available. That’s their decision based on what they get out of writing this stuff f...

Re: I'm calling Willy out! SuperVidel info!

A nice engineering challenge. One other approach to put out there is a breakout box that clips into the hole left by the mains inlet. No case hacking - sure there would be a slight protrusion from the back to house the DVI Connector, but you could also allow room for the svethlana connector as well?...

Re: Some basic Mister Questions

2) I'm not impressed by ST. Sorry.. It's no way near to Amiga. It's more like 8-bit computer with pretty weak graphics. You, sir are probably the only person who can come onto a dedicated Atari ST forum and say that! Totally understand your views on porting the core (even if I think you’re be...

Re: Wiki dead?

Hi All, I only have time for fleeting visits to the forum at the moment. I have a few PMs that I’m yet to open. It will get looked at - there are a number of issues with the wiki to resolve so it’s not a quick fix by any stretch. I have far more urgent things to attend to for the time being, but res...

Re: reverse string or MIRROR$

I wondered the same thing but then stopped when it became apparent you would still need a placeholder to marshall the character being replaced. So, not sure anything is gained... but what do I know... I would do: FOR I = LEN(Input$) TO 1 STEP -1 Output$ = Output$ + MID$(Input$, I, 1) NEXT I RETURN O...

Re: Inexpensive RTC just wire in?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I seem to remember some years ago reading that the date and time functions on the ST were handled by the keyboard controller IC and there was a mod which essentially strapped a battery to this IC to hold its state after the machine was powered off. Not the most elegant s...

Re: Mix and match VCS?

This is pretty normal. The etching only indicates the revision of the board, some revisions were in manufacture for several years, so the date doesn't really tell you anything about the age of the machine - only the serial number can do that to some extent.

Are you sure HBASIC.TTP isn’t just HBASIC.PRG renamed? There were a few programs on the ST that behaved as TTP if you just renamed them.
