is this the same capacitor as used on the STFM motherboard 512k memory, between the drams?

i see those have 224 written on them

no this wasn't a "repaired" PSU, just the standard Phihong Mega STE/TT used working one which worked fine until this "freak" day!

frankly i wouldn't want to repair it now in case it happened again

a while ago i had a Mega STE that worked fine until one day i switched it on and the fan on the PSU ran very fast! (like it was getting too much voltage) so quickly i switched it off but was clearly too late :( anyway on removing the PSU to test it i found the 12v rail was outputing 22v!! didn't get...

help identifying part on MP210A Marpet upgrade board

i need to replace a part on the above main simms board

the part is C1 (capacitor) which sits between the 2 IC chips

it is blue in colour and marked "224"

looks like a tantalum bead capacitor

can anyone just confirm what i need to get thanks

but the STE is totally different to the falcon layout and none of those resistors/caps and chips relate to the falc

basically i have some that spin but with dead logic boards, so all i really need is a working board from maybe a drive that doesn't spin

actually all i need is the facia / button and lower slide plate but probably will take it all

i have also changed the NVRAM on this board with a new one and sometimes i notice the info gets changed if i check it

i reset the correct info but it still doesn't boot

hold in reset for 5 seconds, release and it boots

yes i noticed the 700v / 800v too but concluded that neither would have to deal with 700v for this application

i will try with a Bu508A and see........

well i changed C1 and C7 capacitors and no change

does anyone have a reset circuit schematic? or maybe even advise what other capacitors to look at...

does anyone know if pin 1 of the combel chip goes to anything?

it's just a blank pad on the mobo with no trace going anywhere

i've looked at the schematic but can't see pin 1 listed.....

i have a peritel French Falcon which doesn't have the TV port or circuitary on the motherboard (or hole in the casing!) is this board the same as the usual UK/European model? or is it different in anyway? at the moment this board does no work hence just wanting to be sure before i start playing........

yeah obviously i know if the red led doesn't illuminate it won't work! :roll: the only drive that illuminates the LED is the a Western Digital WDE 9100 drive but that doesn't spin! in fact i've just tested it with just the power cable attached switched on and no spin so i guess this means it's farck...
