Falcon to Sony RGB

Give me a week or two and I can show you how to sort out hooking up a Falcon to a Sony PVM. Just waiting on my Falcon to arrive.

Re: 'MLP' mod disks online here

When you boot off the disk you have a scroller info screen with music playing. I assumed from that you could switch between songs?

Re: 'MLP' mod disks online here

Yeah, I tried those and every key on the keyboard.

Only one that seems to do anything is the spacebar. It boots you back out to Gem.

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

What about other games or demos?

Earlier in the thread I posted a video to the ending credits to the Fantasia demo where the little fish are swimming by and you can see the shadow/ghosting effect to the right of them. Mostly noticeable on lighter colored backgrounds.

Re: 'MLP' mod disks online here

Just downloaded this fantastic looking collection and converted them over for my HxC emulator. Quick question though: How exactly do you switch through the songs? Or do you have to let them play back to back? edit: Scratch that. The first song on each seems to loop and loop yet there are multiple mo...

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

Thanks for the responses poobah and mc6809e.

It looks like a fundamental hardware flaw in the STe and probably MegaSTe design.

I might try some of these recommended fixes and see what happens.

Awesome!!

Thank you, thank you!

Tested and its working great with the new Emu Manager. Kinda glad you opted to remove the clicking key sound too.

Re: DIY: Retro fitting a PicoPSU into a STf/fm/e machine

Muhaha.. Nice job there man... Might have kept a spare molex for internal drives though. Its still available. Those two little white connectors on top the picopsu pcb allow you to attach/detach the molex power connectors in case you don't need them. If the need arises, I can just plug it back in. T...

DIY: Retro fitting a PicoPSU into a STf/fm/e machine

I posted this originally over at AtariAge, and thought some folks here might be interested in it. This is the second one I have done and I have the install process done pat. This is the 80 watt PicoPSU with 80 watt 12 volt brick. I retained the original power switch and installed the 2.5mm dc power ...

Odd HxC issue regarding file names with spaces in them

Recently received a SD card HxC unit and its fantastic. Using the Floppy emulator Manager on my ST, I noticed that if a file has a space in its name and its in a subfolder (or perhaps a folder inside a folder) off the root of the SD card, the Emu manager doesn't show anything in the folder and it wo...

WTB: Atari STe Shifter chip C300588

Looking specifically for the C300588 version of the STe shifter chip and not the C301712 version.

I know Best should stock this (though they list both under the same part number), just looking to see if anyone has a one for a good price.

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

Year 2 bump. Ok, so I have another STe in my hands and its doing the exact same thing! So, 4 total STe machines have been in my possession and that all exhibit the same behavior. 2 NTSC machines and 2 PAL machines. I have tested them with 2 different SC1224's, 2 different RGB broadcast monitors (one...

Re: Modified ST hassles

I might try to encourage him to let me have a go at making the CATA-CF under license. That cartridge port based one? Judging by his responses on his forum, I am thinking he probably wouldn't have a problem with that. He doesn't appear to be in a position to do it himself. Cart port based one would ...

Re: Modified ST hassles

Well, yeah, you could go with the UltraSatan, or even the older SatanDisk (Pigula in Poland still sells them), but I was really hoping for an internal solution.

I have looked at Ppera's designs, but I lack the hardware to program the chips.

Usiing a TEC for cooling?

Did you have something specific in mind that you were going to cool? Problem with Peltiers is that they still need a powerful fan and heatsink on top of them to keep the Peltier itself cool. Cooler it can be kept the cooler the bottom plate gets which contacts the CPU top. As good as modern fans and...

Re: SF 314 external drive problem, needs new drive but,,,

Hate to bump a 2 year old thread, but I recently picked up a SF354 drive that has the same kind of pcb in it along with the same single row of pins to the dead SS DD floppy drive. I was going to replace the drive with probably a Sony MPF-920, but was needing some assistance with the wiring of a stan...

Re: Keep STE or go back to STFM

Most of the time adding a little bit of flux or solder to the joint when you reheat it is sufficient. Sounds like you might need to do the same thing to the 13 pin monitor connector as well. Only under really severe cases would you need to remove all the solder with a solder wick or similar and reso...

Re: Another failed ST -> vga experiment for me :)

Confused :? I do have some LM1881 ICs but have not tested your suggestion, nor have I said that this would not work. With my circuit (http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=17153&start=100#p203262), if you want to construct a minimalist circuit, delete resistors R4, R5 and R6. If y...

Re: Another failed ST -> vga experiment for me :)

 Alas, the GBS-8200 V4.0 board does not like the composite video signal from pin 2 on Atari STs that have an internal TV modulator (may be okay with Atari STs that don't have an internal TV modulator). It is also not happy with separate Horizontal and Vertical sync. signals :( . This circuit...

Re: Another failed ST -> vga experiment for me :)

I used one of these briefly last year on an Amiga 1200 and was never satisfied with the results. And that was even feeding its VGA output into a CRT monitor. Odd shifting pixels (like it was trying to auto correct itself, especially on the mouse cursor) and frame rate conversion converts all PAL 50H...

Re: Why is this modified Atari STF so sought after??

I wouldn't mind having some more info on that little external 34 pin floppy connector plugged into the 14 pin din. Anyone have any links on building one of those and does it work fine with any regular PC drive? I am thinking one of those and then an HxC FLoppy Emulator along with a switch to toggle ...
