Re: The Atari Music Network is Live!

I think before you go forward you really need to figure out what its monthly operating costs were. How much storage space needed for present and future and how much bandwidth it was using and predicted to use 6 months and 12 months down the road (and further). I doubt storage would be much an issue ...

Re: The Atari Music Network is Live!

If you need some small donations to help offset some of the initial costs to get the ball rolling, by all means let everyone know.

I wouldn't mind sending some Paypal funds over to help out.

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

Hmmm...I will check into this tonite.

Its odd cause my 1040STf doesn't have this metal band and it works perfectly.

Re: PPera's website & tools missing in Internet

I emailed him earlier asking about his site (I noticed it was down a couple days ago) This is his response: Hi Todd, 07x.net stopped to work without any warning, notice. So, they killed likely hunderts, thousands of sites. I got short message that go on some premium hosting of new owner, and then th...

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

I wouldn't mind picking up an FPU for it...though I don't know how much real world usage I would get out of it. Then again I don't really use the accelerator much anyways...typically I just run the machine at 8MHz. So, anyone with any ideas on the video issue? Do the pics help shed any light onto th...

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

Took the machine back apart (must be like the 10th time) and took some high res photos. I have higher res ones if needed. One photo of the overall mainboard, then seperate photos of different places around the board. Before I start probing and prodding around it, thought you guys should look at the ...

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

Hey Simbo Thanks for all the help and pointers. I will post pics of the psu top and bottom and how about the mainboard top and bottom. Heres the thing: I don't think its a PSU problem. I rigged up an ATX power supply to it and it displays the exact same ghosting on the screen. I didn't check if the ...

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

*sigh* Too bad some of you ST experts don't live in the US. I would just ship the machine to you and see if you could fix it. Tonight I removed the shifter chip, clean all the contacts on it and the socket and reinstalled it. Same graphics and sound issue. Perhaps I should just purchase a PAL STe mo...

I know. I meant a CF slot instead of an IDE connector. Skip having to plug in an ide cable to a CF adapter card.

Compact little all in one solution.

Re: Modified ST hassles

Hmmm....I already have a 16MHz cpu in my STe courtesy of the AdSpeed STe so I personally wouldn't have much use for this board/mod.

Now, if it had an IDE interface (or better yet IDE with Compact Flash slot) than I am all ears! :)

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

I will probably open up the machine this week and take stock of all the caps and their values on the psu and motherboard. I am assuming I want to replace them all with equal value electrolytic units? Non Polarized? What about the bridge rectifier in the PSU? What value should I ideally replace it wi...

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

I haven't had a chance to replace the capacitors yet, but I have noticed some other things. I have noticed some pops and clicks in the stereo audio output when I play back, for example, a mod file, I notice some occasional pops and clicks. Seems to be most prevalent in the left channel. I have tried...

Truly a shame more devs didn't leverage the increased abilities of the STe machines.

Wanted: Used SatanDisk or UltraSatan

Was going to order a new UltraSatan from zaxon, but I don't think I will have the money available for it after all the extra fees from Western Union and such.

Would prefer a US seller and would like an UltraSatan, but a Satandisk would also work.

Excellent work both of you have done. Just checked out the demo in Steem and it looks fantastic. Can't wait to see the updated graphics and hopefully a playable game sometime down the road. Will try this out on my STe tonite. Tried the original version of RType on the ST for the first time last nite...

Re: smelly Amiga 500 question, how to connect to TV via RF

If you need RF output or color composite video, you would need the A520 video modulator. It plugs into the RGB port on pretty much any Amiga and provides both RF and color composite video.

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

I think I am going to replace the rectifier and all the caps on the psu and all the caps on the motherboard. Plus extract and reseat the shifter.

Is there a list anywhere with all the needed caps for the psu and motherboard?

Re: Slight ghosting in STe RGB output

Something just dawned on me. My "tested good" psu that came in my 1040STf might not be as good as I had thought. I had forgotten about it, but in my STf machine, when ever a floppy disk is accessed, the screen flashes. The floppy drives light on the keyboard also doesn't work (could be key...

Re: Modified ST hassles

When you shifter was not seated correctly in the socket, what kind of lines did you see on the screen? My STe has some issues (per my thread) with its video including what I think is ghosting or perhaps slight shadows on objects and a generally not RGB crystal clear picture. Simbo mentioned to me he...
