Re: windows on a multi task machine vs single task

does the closing/deleting of a window in a "lower archy" program , cause the entire following windows handle # to shift down (does gem automatically resituate/reassisgn since one of the handles has been deleted ) Charles, you must be kidding me. SMFH. If it did, it would be bloody pain wo...

Re: zView plugin reader_read output format

From a design point of view i need to call ldg directly, it wouls be much more difficult for me to integrate zcodec lib as vision has already stuff to handle index to bitplanes conversion, dither etc. And zcodec does not fit into current vision design. Only reason i used zcodec was to because I do ...

Re: Atari file system support for Linux ?

Yeah, just my advice, when transferring large images, connect to the back motherboard ports of USB, I don't know what it is, but the front ports of every case seem to be worthless. Not sure if it's the cables that connect to the motherboard, or some voltage drops or what... To be fair, the hard dri...

Re: Atari file system support for Linux ?

That's PP's wording - I thought it was funny, therefore it's still in. Error 2 means: file not found. That happens if the system loses the device somehow. But a couple of sectors seems to have been read. I will do some testings more... :) UPDATE: I've uploaded V 0.97 - There are some bugfix...

Re: Window refresh problems under Geneva/Neodesk

So you essentially have, a type, two sets of coordinates, color, a text buffer/count if needed, and the terminal state at that moment. These are rippled through when a redraw happens. I have TRIED to do an optimization where if a redraw happens as a result of something being ADDED to the queue, the...

Re: Window refresh problems under Geneva/Neodesk

I'm already noticing that even with debugging the redraw issues, the performance eaten by attempting to maintain the screen queue is enough to make the modem miss incoming data. T Do you need to remember every bit of info that screen queue? You just need to know those that are written currently on ...

Re: Window refresh problems under Geneva/Neodesk

I'm already noticing that even with debugging the redraw issues, the performance eaten by attempting to maintain the screen queue is enough to make the modem miss incoming data. This is even in 25mhz on a TT030. The Atari ST base machine is 8Mhz with 512K and 720K floppy. Make sure your program fit...

Re: Window refresh problems under Geneva/Neodesk

I would do this as a TOS program, so that you get away from redraws of overlapping windows, etc...
In any case, most ST will not be running multitasking OS, so it's one program at a time, so you will not have that issue anyway.

Re: Atari file system support for Linux ?

ha, All error dialogs should be like that. One of my favorite errors has been 'something has gone terribly wrong.' And it should be followed by "and I do not know what, the program should not enter into this part of the code". Most likely a scenario that the programmer never anticipated.....

Re: Window refresh problems under Geneva/Neodesk

OT... So I saw one of your video on youtube (sound barely audible cranking to the max) trying to see how this thing works. Seems like you are using serial protocol, and also used a software on Linux to convert TCP/IP to serial. So do you need a modem for this? What is the host IP address to use this...

Re: Window refresh problems under Geneva/Neodesk

I picked the two not out of random: Smurf because it does a full colour palette handling, and Phoenix because it’s kind of a reference implementation of "Vom Anfänger zum GEM-Profi" of Geiß&Geiß. Geiß&Geiß are to Germans what Oren is for the English speaking fan base: an easy good...

Re: Window refresh problems under Geneva/Neodesk

IDK... I don't use Windom so IDK. My guess is try running the Windom demo to see if it works for Geneva. I would stick with standard GEM library that you know what's going on with. I know it is a terminal. You mentioned you have a buffer in your post above, so you have to redraw your window based on...

Re: Window refresh problems under Geneva/Neodesk

I have not seen your code, so not sure what you have done. I am guessing that you may not have used a virtual workstation, and so your palette changes as it may be randomly using some random memory location as your virtual workstation settings. I suggest that you look at Tim Oren professional GEM as...
