Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

It fixed AfterBurner and Dune II, too.

You're right about the core name, I think I was too tired to look out for the correct spelling :) I see also the auto-reset after the ROM loading is not quite stable yet, but resetting manually, then loading a ROM should help.

Re: Old Spectrum core with esxDOS support

Is the same image on zxuno and mist. There are zxmmc.bin and divmmc.bin files inside too. I've used your image. But the detection code is probably in the loader. What I read on the forum you linked (with google translator), the detection works by reading the ports of the interfaces, and if it retur...

Re: Old Spectrum core with esxDOS support

Is the driver available on a separate DSK image? So the original CP/M can be booted and then see if loading the driver works.
Ok, so using ZXMMC mode, CP/M says: interface DIVIDE, in DIVMMC mode it says interface: not found.
Something wrong with the interface detection, I think.

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

During the summer months I've been busy with travelling, reading and flamenco... so I didn't spend much time on this. Please use the MiSTer version for now as it is the most compatible one. The changes with JT12 v0.2 are minimum and for Megadrive work well. Thanks for the answer! Strange the forum'...

spectrum-cpm.vhd.zip

Perhaps the problem is on the driver for DivIDE and it is not a core problem.

DivIDE is a completly different hardware, also ATA protocol is completely different from MMC SPI, so don't expect it to work.

But it must be some delay between the two events, and in this case, it's the same as if you press and release the key.

Re: Old Spectrum core with esxDOS support

Thank you for this rom. I test it with a SD image with a lot of games and works like a charm. I notice this rom only work with ZXMMC interface. Could you make other version for divMMC interface? I can not start the CP/M up with ZXMMC And another question, What is the structure of spectrum.rom file?...

Re: Genesis / Megadrive core ported to MiST

It is very difficult to debug this hardware because of all the pipelining -which follows original design. So I am currently working on a different approach. I am making a small 16-bit RISC CPU that can do the FM synthesis on software so it will be easier to debug problems and it will take less FPGA...

Re: Old Spectrum core with esxDOS support

Here's a spectrum.rom with +3e.
I suggest to create a spectrum.vhd file in the root folder (should be a 64 MB empty file for example) so you won't format the SD Card accidentally.

Re: Atari 2600 / VIC 20

Switching roms means that you place a custom one on the sd card. That one then of course needs to match the pal/ntsc setting you are intending to use. But with a single built-in rom the patching could be hard coded. Yes, this is an option. I'm not on high priority doing this however, have lots of a...

I see changes in your repository https://github.com/gyurco/ZX_Spectrum-128K_MIST but I don't see a new realease. Are you going to make it? I've already submitted the change to Sorgelig's repo, maybe he'll do a new release if you ask him ;) Didn't try the MMC drivers for CP/M yet, but that looks int...

But do you think reconfigurable PLL is working on Cyclone III? Have yet to actually try to use it. But the megawizard lets me pick one for Cyclone III. So i think it works... If you can figure out how it works in one core, I can adapt it to the other :) As I see, it needs an existing PLL's output f...

Re: Atari 2600 / VIC 20

Ah, cool. I am in fact not so happy with the fact that there are now different cores for PAL and NTSC. I know you did this for a very good reason to avoid running the clocks through a multiplexor. But there's imho an elegant solution. The reconfigurable PLL block: https://www.intel.com/content/dam/...

Re: Atari 2600 / VIC 20

For a "real" NTSC vic20 the 6561 needs to be replaced by a 6560 which would very likely have a significantly different video timing. Fixing this will make all those cartridge image show a centered screen. That's no problem, I've fixed the timings for the display. Just didn't touch the aud...

Re: Atari 2600 / VIC 20

Ok. The CPU clock in the VIC20 has more difference (about 20% between PAL and NTSC), so the tone change is much more obvious.
Nevertheless, here's a release with a separate NTSC build:

Re: Atari 2600 / VIC 20

Anybody knows is there any difference between the sound of the games in PAL/NTSC, or the VIC chip compensates the different clocks?
AFAIK the formula for the sound frequency is frequency = clock / (127 - X), but this makes a difference in tones between NTSC/PAL models.

Re: Which FPGA clone to choose?

The sole purpose of clones is to get as much money as possible with least possible investment. I doubt the clone manufacturer knows FPGA more than a generic user. That's what I feel about Mistica, too. And it wouldn't that hard to add 10 holes for the JTAG pins + 4 for the ARM UART, the price of th...

There are/were a lot of cases when a user become a developer, and the hardware without core developing is just a piece of useless substance. So producing non-developer friendly boards are a dead-end.
