Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

I suppose the last thing to try is disable STORAGE.PRG, and leave USB.PRG & UNICORN.PRG enabled. See if that has any bearing on the issue.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

I'm not sure I've fixed anything. Try it with the motor on/floppy issue you are seeing as I don't see it. And let me know if it makes any change at all. I have done a quick test now and it seems like the motor is spinning down as it should now. But still have the crashing; inserted a disk with a me...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

O.k. the motor thing was what I was hoping to be fixed, so that's good.

I've not done anything to address the bad sector reset/crash as I'm not even sure it's the USB drivers at this stage.

I've committed the motor fix so it's in the latest drivers.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Do you find any problems with bad sectors or swedish characters and the USB drivers ? When copying lots of files I've hade som reproducible weird characters show up as files which TOS then couldn't find corresponding real files to. I don't think it had with bad sectors or Swedish characters to do t...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

RE: floppy drive spinning, I noticed one of my STs does this, but the others dont. Alas, I dismissed this as 'one of those things' so I can't remember which one has the issue :D I will try and find time to check them all again and see what differences the 'stays spinning' ST has. I suspect it could...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

I suspect that wasn't with recent drivers, and you might want to try the recent drivers with your MegaSTE again.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

troed,

Do you find any problems with bad sectors or swedish characters and the USB drivers ?

Do you see the drive not spinning without the USB drivers too ? I think I've seen this happen without the drivers when you remove a floppy too early and the motor still runs until a floppy is put back in.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

I'll need to see if I can generate a bad floppy disk to test this as all my floppies are good, and I don't know about the Swedish characters. I can't say it's high priority to fix it though as it's pretty rare to have a bad floppy, or at least it should be. I'm also not sure what's causing your flop...

Re: Problem with Popsel/Ppera IDE interface and MegaSTE

That's exactly the problem. DTACK needs to be dealt with differently on the MegaSTE.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Just an update to let people know I've started work on the ethernet drivers for USB & TOS, i.e. STiNG support. I'll send another update when I've got something working.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

You've wasted 4GB on that stick though, by only creating 1GB partitions, you can do up to 2GB each.

As for alternative desktops with smaller icons, don't know. Jinnee/Magic ??

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

I used an 8Gig Lexar USB stick and used EaseUS free partition manager ( http://www.partition-tool.com/landing/home-download.htm ) to make a 999Meg Primary partition, and it worked flawlessly :) Gonna have to check all the drawers at work to find all the old usb drives so I don't 'waste' an 8Gig sti...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Is the stick write-protected ? Nope. Then I'm not sure exactly why. Sounds like some quirky USB device. Unfortunately I have plenty of USB sticks around and none of them exhibit bad behaviour such as this. It may be that Windows has a workaround specifically for this device, as there are many USB d...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Try todays drivers. You'll probably still get the error partitioning, but you should be able to partition your device on Windows now and use it directly if you use BigDOS. So you don't need to use HDDRUTIL/HDDRIVER or CBHD/CBHDCONF anymore. Will do! The previous attempt didn't involve BIGDOS at all...

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Right. Subject to BigDOS constraints. I used a 1.5GB FAT16 partition. It has to be FAT16 - Type 0x06.

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

Hope you had a great Christmas Allan! I just tried the 2412 drivers. Here's the results: - My old USB sticks still refuses to be detected at boot and the boot just freezes. Same as before. - OBHD gives the same error as before; "Fehler beim Partitionieren!" - HDDRiver; if I run it without...

Oh, and remember USB is hot swappable, so as long as you've got USB.ACC installed too, you can hotplug these to your hearts content.

Happy Christmas !

Re: NEW USB Host Controller via ACSI

BigDOS 8 is available here. http://rainer-seitel.onlinehome.de/bigdos.html Install it, after the USB drivers into the AUTO folder. USB.PRG STORAGE.PRG UNICORN.PRG BIGDOS.PRG Then your Windows-only FAT16 partitions will be usable on the desktop, from 32MB to 2GB I believe. Ensure any Atari partitions...
