Re: Eiffels - pre-order

can bus is a good idea can you add i2c also as a breakout maybe you can reuse the same io/s with other firmware for i2c or mixed mode on queri setup in code Anything's possible, but at the moment I'm just trying to get Eiffels out without any changes so that people can use ps/2 mouse & keyboards.

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

Well, at the moment, I'm trying to gauge the level of interest so I can work out costs. More interest - less cost because of bulk buying.

I'll leave it another week or so, and then see what the numbers look like and then publish the prices then.

Stay tuned....

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

I've followed the two threads and I am interested in a internal one that I can plug straight into one of my STe machines. Maybe I have got this wrong? Perhaps by internal you mean inside a PC tower case only? I'm toying with the thought of a tiny case with a PC ATX PSU to house my SCSI and IDE writ...

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

I have had a Qwertyx in the past and I tried to use it again last night but alas I think its died. Its Serial only however and very fussy about the mice, and so this is definitely something that I will be needing. Sign me up! You're based in Rhyl? I live only up the road... Old Colwyn in fact. Not ...

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

I'm sure we can sort that out. Nice one .. always good to meet fellow forum peeps in the flesh. Although if it's for your TT, I suspect you'll want an external version and therefore you'll have to find a suitable box to house it in as I wasn't thinking of doing boxes for the externals. Ah, so I'll ...

Eiffels - pre-order

Thought best to announce here... After several weeks of prototyping and testing I've now got a PCB ready to produce the Eiffel keyboard & mouse controller. This is the new v3 hardware shown on Didier's page. I'm open to a pre-order stage where I'm trying to gauge interested parties and then I ca...

Re: Eiffel Schematics

Onto the pre-ordering..... I've done some basic costings on getting 50 boards produced. I've spent a bit of cash on getting the prototypes done and the components for them. So, here's my thoughts...... The options are:- 1. Internal/External - so I get you the right cable. i.e. RJ11 to RJ11 for exter...

Re: Eiffel Schematics

O.k. fan control works.

Now I'm left with the joystick ports to test, and then I realized, how can I test them....

I have an old Quickshot & Konix navigator but no games and currently a mono screen.

Does anyone know of a test in GEM for the joysticks ??

Re: Eiffel Schematics

Sure, I understand that a few people won't need the LCD, joystick and possibly other things too. After costings and looking what additional components are required I decided to add everything as the rest of the components are pretty negligible after the initial costs for the basic keyboard & mou...

Re: Eiffel Schematics

Rj11 is just the connector on the board, the other end is fitted with the internal keyboard connector for internal use.

For mounting on a backplate you have mounting holes and the PS2 connectors should show out the rear of the slot. The RJ11 connector is still inside a tower.

Re: Eiffel Schematics

Attached is a piccy for the final board layout. Comments appreciated which I'll try to accomodate. So, we have an RJ11 connector for the Atari connection. I did this as it aids easy connection for external units as we can use an RJ11 to RJ11 cable. Additionally an RJ11 to RJ11 cable can be cut and m...

Re: Eiffel Schematics

Hi Roger, thanks for the ebay link. He's got 142. Nice.

After this I'm sure it's still possible to get hold of them, so I'll stick with the headers.

Re: Eiffel Schematics

A question on this for folks interested in buying. I've currently got pin headers for the CAN and Joystick interfaces. Now it seems that a header to DB9 is getting more scarce to buy. I could make them, but it seems as though it could be cheaper to put DB9 shells onto the board and use a serial exte...

Re: Eiffel Schematics

Just posting an update.

Testing is going well, and the CAN, LCD and LEDs all work. Need to test the Joystick ports and the temperature sensor & fan control within the next few days.

I'll post again towards the end of the week, or early next week.

Re: Eiffel Schematics

I reckon another 2 weeks for testing, then I guess I'll set something up to accept a pre-order phase (without payment) so I can gauge how many interested parties there are.

Then do the production and take things from there.

Re: Eiffel Schematics

O.k. I've got my prototyped boards back. The board is a full Eiffel that can support CAN, LED's, temperature, Joystick ports and LCD. So if people didn't want things on the board, the components just don't get soldered. As for CAN, there's jumpers on the board to switch, but you need to swap out the...

Re: Eiffel Schematics

I'm going to get 3 prototyped first with my current design. Once I'm happy with that I'll get a batch made up. Probably 50 or so. So there'll probably be options..... 1. LED's do you really need them for the mouse & keyboard ?? 2. LCD interface - is that required ?? additional option ? I'll prob...

Re: Eiffel Schematics

Sorry techie_alison, it wasn't the actual schematics. I'm after a PCB layout already done. I've started to tackle it in Eagle but I'm only about 15% through and wrangling with eagle is delaying me. If anyone has PCB layout's ready in format the PCB Pool or some other place could produce, I'm all ears.
