Re: Eiffels - pre-order

And just to be clear.

Once the eiffel is installed, the original Atari keyboard/mouse is no longer used "AT ALL". They are defunct as they are physically no longer connected to the system.

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

I guess if the Kempston Pro uses a 9 pin interface - then yep. Or feel free to make or use your own. It's a standard serial header that most older PC's used to use.

Re: Eiffel3 - Ordering now open

Ugh. I've just found a problem with the external cables. It seems I've got the TX/RX pins mixed up on the board, and therefore the external cables (RJ11 to RJ11) are non-standard. So you end up with 1->1, 2->3, 3->2, 4->4
Sorry about that folks.

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

If you mean the STe 15 pin joystick ports, they are separate and should continue to work fine. The joystick ports on the eiffel are an extension of the ones fitted on the keyboard itself, therefore it takes control over the whole keyboard port and you need to use the joystick cables if you want to a...

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

Sorry for the delay on this folks. I had to go to the US for a couple of weeks.

The boards are in, the components are in, so I just need to get started now.

Prices will be up at the weekend.

Thanks.

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

Just ordered a bunch of components to make up boards and cables. They should be arriving over the next day or two.

The boards themselves are due in next week.

I suspect production will start around the end of the month, so I'll put up the pricing page a few days before.

We're nearly there......

Sure, I thought I had. Look at the "Configuration" which mentions what you need.

Let me know if this isn't clear, or maybe you've missed it completely ?

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

Because some people may be able to make up their own cables and save some of the cost. Additionally, others may have PIC programming capabilities and already have PICs. As you've already said, you don't need LCD support, so I think the current setup allows the minimal amount of items with as much fl...

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

Hi Claude, Yes, a regular phone cable should work just fine, although you might want to keep it short. That's exactly the reason I put the RJ11 on the board :-) I've tried to make it to have some simple choices, so if someone has their own programmer they could even do their own PIC's, and if someon...

Forgot to mention, the picture of the board is currently a shot from the development boards. Once I get the production boards back and populated one I'll upload a new picture.

O.k. Here's the sample order form with some details on how I intend to break it down with the options.

Feedback on this is very much appreciated so I can accomodate when prices are final next week.

Re: Eiffels - pre-order

O.k., so I was hoping to get a few more orders than currently received which will have an effect on pricing. I'm working on a web page now for ordering via paypal only. I know about the problems with UltraSatan, and for me I am actually producing the boards before sale so will pretty much have them ...

HitPoint wrote:i`ve interested too. can i use eiffel with ps\2 mouse adapter only? (i don`t need pc keyboard)

You will need a PS2 keyboard as it takes over the control of the keyboard port. Sounds like you need the "PeST" mouse adapter instead if you want to use your existing keyboard.
