Re: I got myself some diskettes and a floppy disk driver!

Hey, I found a floppy that works on both my pc and my STE. It appears to be a backup of the C: drive, but I'm not sure what C: drive :P But I suppose I could use that for testing for now, until I get the new floppies to work. Edit: I found another diskette that can be opened by both pc and Atari... ...

Re: I got myself some diskettes and a floppy disk driver!

There are two problems here: 1. USB floppy drives only understands standard DOS formatted disks. That means 80 tracks, nine sectors per track (720Kb) og 18 sectors per track (1.4Mb). Your Atari floppies are probably non-standard, most people used FCopy or similar back in the day to squeeze in anoth...

Re: I got myself some diskettes and a floppy disk driver!

I just found this topic, perhaps I could use it. http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11708 What worries me though is that I can't even see the content of Atari ST floppies on pc. I just took a closer look at the floppies, and they are indeed different, but that's probably because the new ones...

Re: I got myself some diskettes and a floppy disk driver!

Okay. So far: inserting a floppy with Atari ST stuff and trying to open it using Windows explorer: the device makes sounds, the explorer window appears to be loading something, but when it's almost done it says it can't open it. (I'm not sure on the exact message, as my OS was installed in Dutch for...

I got myself some diskettes and a floppy disk driver!

http://i.imgur.com/AadJfp7.jpg http://i.imgur.com/sV58IWp.jpg I'm excited, because now I'll be able to get stuff from my ST to my pc, and, perhaps even better, vice versa! I've toyed with the idea of getting new music composing software on the ST before... perhaps now I'll be able to try out some n...

Re: Something I made in Quartet

Thanks, guys! Yesterday, I decided to make another track, this time using the 3/4 time signature, as I had never done that before. It quickly turned out to be shaping into a tune with a much darker and more serious tone than the previous one, but I definitely didn't mind! For more information, check...

Something I made in Quartet

Hey! Back in June, I found a floppy with Quartet on it, a program I had never seen before but seemed interesting. http://i.imgur.com/NU8UFFW.jpg I played around with it for a bit and created a nice little tune. It's quite simple, but I really like it myself, honestly! :D (The graphic was made in DEG...

Re: IBM formatted diskettes?

The problem is that HD floppies really needs a stronger magnetic field when writing than the DD floppies. I have tested HD floppies on my ST's since I don't have many good DD floppies left. They work fine as DD's in my STE's (one with original drive and one with modified Sony drive from a PC) but I...

Re: IBM formatted diskettes?

Formatted or not formatted, it really doesn't matter as you can format the disks from the desktop anyway. Just remember to buy DD (usually labelled "DD-DS") disks if you have a plain ST, as HD floppies can be a bit unreliable when DD-formatted. Oh, hm. That's a bit late, as I already orde...

Okay, so IBM formatted is actually what's desired on both Atari ST and Windows?

IBM formatted diskettes?

Hey, I'd like to buy some new floppy disks to put my stuff on as for legacy's sake I'd rather not write too much to my father's diskettes. Plus, most of them are rather full anyway.
I found two packs, one with unformatted diskettes, one with IBM formatted diskettes. What's the difference? :)

Re: Is it possible to rip Atari ST music?

Oh, missing tunes? I notified Grazey by private message. (don't hope too high to see added by the month tho ;)) (Wrong forum actually btw, this should go into "Ym rockin'" ;)) Ah, okay, thanks. I can't change that myself though, can I? I tried reporting the post to have it moved, but it w...

Re: Is it possible to rip Atari ST music?

Most game sountracks files are multi-tracks, all the game tunes are packed in one file. you can find Lotus III tunes under Patrick Phelan directory. Here : http://sndh.atari.org/sndh/browser/index.php?dir=sndh_lf%2FPhelan_Patrick%2F (aaah, such cool tunes, i like the Amiga MOD versions better but s...

Hm... Psycho Pig II, I think. I quite liked it as a kid but after I got to know Dizzy I didn't touch it for years, and when I played it again I didn't like it anymore.

Re: Is it possible to rip Atari ST music?

Hello and welcome to the forum! Ofcourse this is possible and has already been done. there is no need to redo the work. Checkout the SNDH archives by Grazey/PHF. He ripped music of 95% of all available ST games sofar. That's really cool! I can't find the Lotus III tunes, though, I downloaded the ar...

Is it possible to rip Atari ST music?

Hey, I have been trying to record the Lotus III soundtrack in good quality, and recently found out how to do it using the Steem emulator. I'm wondering, though, would it be possible to rip Atari ST music somehow? Because while I can easily record the cd tracks now, for some other tracks I will need ...
