Re: DIY MD/SMS/Atari/C= to USB adapter

Ok, i've solved issues with paddles. Added special support in MiSTer. Paddles are overlaid on top of other gamepads, so the problem with mapping is solved. So now we have open source paddles USB adapter. I plan to add spinner support once the ordered A2600 driving controller arrive. Probably tomorro...

Stremon wrote:Is there any way I can get both optical audio (on the IO board) and direct video output?
Activating direct video seems to disable both IO audio output, both digital and analog.

Activating Direct Video doesn't deactivate neither optical nor analog audio.

Re: DIY MD/SMS/Atari/C= to USB adapter

btw, setting ISERIAL 0 is not required.
you just need to add override:

Code: Select all

uint8_t Gamepad_::getShortName(char *name)
{
  return 0;
}

Re: DIY MD/SMS/Atari/C= to USB adapter

Just thinking about adding some specific thing to Paddle/Spinner adapter, so MiSTer will recognize it and add special tweaks. Currently i see several way to customize: 1) Add special serial number - but i don't see in Arduino how can i customize the serial. 2) use specific product name - but it will...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

<dip bits="15" name="Advance" type="trigger"/> Good idea. I will implement this parameter in MiSTer. If type is not used then it's a normal on/off switch. But sebdel's idea is better - if no <ids>, then it's a trigger. Type is not needed at all. On/off and a trigger is...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

I noticed you compute the MD5 before you interleave data to the destination. Is that correct? What is the ROM MD5 exactly? MD5 is calculated at file loading stage, so basically it's MD5 of all used parts in the order they listed in MRA, not MD5 of constructed ROM. The point is to check that rom is ...

Re: DIY MD/SMS/Atari/C= to USB adapter

after many experiments with different pull down resistors i couldn't make it reliable. The only way to fix it is to connect 3rd (unused) pin of pot to ground (black wire on button). This is simple mod. The one who solder the connector to arduino micro can solder a single jump wire in the paddle. Pot...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

values main task is not reordering. Some dips may occupy for example 4 bits while only like 2 or 3 values are used from all 16 possible values. So you write only 2 ids and their values. About mod parameter: On MiSTer MRA, this parameter is not really mod. It's just binary data sent with index 1. How...

Re: DIY MD/SMS/Atari/C= to USB adapter

Ok, no problem.
Pull down resistor is fine too. But the problem is another side of pot is not connected to GND. So it gives non-linear division..
Higher pull-down resistor - more linear values but lower range. And vice versa.

Re: MiSTer Fan

pulling the air is always less effective. If you will simulate the air flow you will see that air when pulling it goes from sides making the center in static less pressure state. So heatsink will be less effective. When air is pushed to heatsink then it strikes the heatsink making it more effective....

Re: Arcade cores

I see.. technology of 60x :) I've counted pules of madcatz, ~160 per rev. Yours is ~24/rev. So it needs ~8 times more moves per pulse. I will see what can i do. Basically, comfortable control angle in arkanoid is about 90-120 degree. So it means 6-8 pulses.. So paddle on screen should have only 6-8 ...

Re: Arcade cores

The low/med/high sensitivity setting in arkanoid is not low enough, if its possible to adjust. The paddle moves too slowly to be playable with arcade hardware. I can count the encoder slots if it will be helpful. I don't know your connection. Sensitivity is related only to USB spinner. If you conne...

Many arcades got spinner support, but it's USB spinner. I plan to add open source firmware for arduino micro to make USB adapters for spinners and paddles. With some tweaks of firmware it will be possible to adjust the sensitivity. I'm using MadCatz Arcade Stick for XBox 360 (USB). It also has low r...

Re: I/O Board

There is a potential limit of SDRAM bandwidth preventing to make more advanced cores, so secondary 40pin connector is mostly for secondary SDRAM but currently it's not used. Very interesting! Just out of curiosity, did you build and already tested a secondary SDRAM board? Yes. NeoGeo originally was...

Re: USB Hub board

This is needed, otherwise you will be drawing current directly from USB and not the power supply. This is wrong! USB Hub doesn't draw the power through this resistor. It's only for SENSING the power, so the hub's chip will aware of it. Basically you can solder either R1 or R1a. Probably result will...
