Re: Help with porting Arduboy core?

it looks like a custom video mode will be needed to make the arduboy 2:1 (124x68) aspect ratio behave properly with my modern HDTV. MiSTer treats all HDMI resolutions as resolutions with square pixels. So it's absolutely doesn't matter which resolution you will use. Arduboy will always have 2:1 asp...

Re: Help with porting Arduboy core?

Easiest way to support HEX would be to have the HPS do the conversion from HEX to BIN on-the-fly and send the data over the ioctl signals as normal? Otherwise you are double-handling the data, sending it once from HPS to FPGA, and then again processing and sending the same data a second time betwee...

luke79 wrote:oh.. ok, but how can I map the 2nd player inputs if the joystick configuration only asks for one set of commands per VID:PID id ?

All controllers with the same VID:PID share the same config.
It has no relation to amount of players.
I suggest you to study the wiki.

Re: Joystick testing thread

I found a spare encoder in a drawer. It's a 2 players, I tried it and it works... But it works for 1P only ! That's because the MiSTer joystick mapping system is made for 1P only I guess. I mean, it only asks to press for 1P buttons, otherwise I guess it could work. it works with 2 players on cores...

Re: Core development workflows - time saving advice

Do you have any idea how well the compilation scales across cores ? I currently have a 4-core (plus hyperthreading), but might upgrade soon if scaling factor is good. It doesn't seem bound by memory size on my 16GB machine, and without "USE_SP64", the compile didn't seem particularly CPU ...

Re: Help with porting Arduboy core?

@uXe Out of interest, do you know if you'll be attempting to incorprorate the Arcade versions of the Arduboy at some point? I'm not actually sure how different thehardware is, well, apart from the fact that they obviously include a colour screen. Micro Arcade looks fishy.. unlike generic Arduboy HW...

Re: Help with porting Arduboy core?

I think, the next step is to support HEX files loading directly. You can add either another atmega core for conversion on the fly, or other cores like Z80, ZPU, etc for this task.

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

basically, you don't need to do much in FPGA. You just need to create some exchange protocol between Amiga and Linux using the memory buffer. For example Amiga writes to specific memory the amount of data and length it wants to transmit. Linux part will see it and forward to ethernet. The same to op...

it's here:
https://github.com/MiSTer-devel/Retro-C ... rollersUSB
Pin map is inside .ino
I didn't write readme yet.
It's basically adapter for 2 potentiometers and 2 rotary encoders (100-300 ppr).

Re: Core development workflows - time saving advice

To work on HDL you need to reach the Zen :) On serious side: you can learn simulation, but it's two side blade - you will need to write a test benches which may take long time as well, but compilation for simulation is much faster. PCE core specific: comment out the line: `define USE_SP64 this will ...

Re: HELP WANTED: MRA file converter for MiST

<interleave> node on MiSTer does several tasks. It's not only for interleaving several parts, but also can be used to swap the bytes in a single part. map="21" will swap the bytes of the part.

with CRC you can omit md5. use md5="none" so MiSTer will ignore it.

It seems fixes many scrolling games with glitches on the top/bottom scroll lines. Side Arms was one of them - also fixed.

Re: SDRAM board

Actual module size detection is done in Menu core. It uses safe 100MHz clock. It writes values into all possible size edges then read it back. Then send the detected size to Main (HPS), Then upon loading on any other core the Main sends the size to the core. You can solder only U1 and caps on 128MB ...

Re: DIY MD/SMS/Atari/C= to USB adapter

I've pushed paddles/spinners adapter. It's two player version. I will need to add readme later with more explanation. Since i couldn't make reliable work of paddles without connecting it to GND, this simple mod is required. Actually this adapter is more universal than specific to A2600. You can use ...
