The manual of Captive is available on my UCG site. Perhaps it would just need some formatting before putting it on this site.

I remember being pretty impressed by Mercenary on the 8-bit. The game was ok, but the graphics were so cool

I'm starting to regret creating this thread

Looks like I'll keep working with "bottom to top" memory.

From bottom to top

I'm the author of SuperCC (see http://www.atari-forum.com/viewtopic.php?t=10084). It uses the allocated memory for the emulated Atari ST under Steem to manipulate the game Captive while it's running. When I grab parts of the memory, it's always from bottom to top. For example, the name of the droids...

I still have my 600xl (my first computer!), my 800xl, my 130xe and 1040st (+2 ST monitors (color + B/W)). All in boxes.

Perhaps, when my kids leave home, I'll reserve a little space in a room for a 8-bit and my 1040st :)

This attachment has * The original manual for Cubase 1.5 (I thought it was at least Cubase 2! Sorry) that can be opened with "Word Writer 2". * The same manual, but in ASCII. * A folder I have found in my archives called "CUB_TUT". I don't know what it is, but maybe it's a Cubase...

I remember borrowing a Cubase manual from an Atari BBS user back in the early 90s. Not having a photocopy machine available, I typed back the entire manual :) I surely have that file somewhere, but I believe it was for Cubase 2. I'll look for it. Here it is, in some Atari word processor format. I a...

What would be the best format for the images to be in. I would like to see the elevator with the grill-work be transparent. I know GIF will allow that, and I believe TIFF will also. Or would that be part of the 3D model? My example was a mostly uncompressed JPG file. (size 10) What would be a ideal...

Yeah, we could make it a team effort, but who would do what? Lets face it, FreeCap isn't going anywhere. I dislike the limitations given by writing it for Linux and find hard to accept the code to be in C. What you see above is written in C++ with MSDev 7.0 (.NET) using the Irrlicht library ( http:/...

Improvement ideas for Captive

Are you guys afraid to start a new topic or what? "Captive - The end" has been off topic like 10 times already! :? If anyone is willing to keep working on the SuperCC program or similar, then I have a couple of suggestions. 1. Map Editor If you are able to read the entire contents of each ...

As mentionned in the documentation for Saint (http://leonard.oxg.free.fr/SainT/SainTDoc.html), you must use TOS 1.00 only with Saint.

I remember seeing a decompiled game and I believe it was Dungeon Master for PC. It was in C. Since it was automatically decompiled, the variable and function names were generated, giving things like "int var29275" and "void func9235792()". It was almost impossible to understand a...

I wasn't a big fan of the game. Yes, it was fun the first 20-30 minutes, but it got repetitive after that. The fact that you had to bring your entire system to play made it harder to even play.

Innovative and original? yes. Fun? there was better :)

It looks for an application called "steem.exe". If the executable is under a different name, then you'll get "Steem process not found."

I've updated SuperCC in the first post. I've started another project, so that should be the last release of SuperCC. - Added an "About" box - Trill is no longer affected by the "Weaken All" button - Hovering over an iris door displays its unlock sequence in the map viewer - Fixed...
