Re: MiST core status matrix

Newsdee : maybe features and compatiblity could be considered / rate separately ? In the case of the ST core, it has tons of features but (if I'm not mistaken : I hope I overlooked something important) has low compatibility with games. So if would deserve a great "features" rating). Edit :...

Re: MiST core status matrix

Hi everyone ! I'm not sure about the A+ rating for the ST core either ? Last time I tried (a couple of months ago), only a small fraction of the games I tried worked (from Medway Boys, FoF etc.). But maybe I didn't use the right core / tos combination ?? IMHO, it would deserve a B rating. Edit : tha...

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

Out of curiosity, do all cores support scanlines ? Thanks a lot to everyone involved :) Edit : apparently, only the Amiga & ST ones do support them. I would be really really very grateful if scanlines support could be added to other cores too (especially NES & SMS) because, IMHO, they make t...

Re: Input device supported by all cores ?

@MasterOfGizmo : I have to get hold on a new Mist so I cannot test the NES core right now... But is it possible to use a db9 gamepad and have the additional buttons emulated on the keyboard ? I'm asking that, because in my very own case, my setup is that I connected db9 cables to the main arcade but...

Re: AGA core for mist

Awesome news :) Wasn't there some kind of limitation preventing the Mist from displaying the right AGA colours ?

Re: Input device supported by all cores ?

Oh, I see, thanks for the reply ! <1ms sounds more than perfect for the task indeed. I was wondering if the USB stack could add some latency... I will look for one then. Do you have a controller to recommend ? I will have to buy one, and "hack" it to connect it to my arcade cabinet. Or may...

Input device supported by all cores ?

Hey everyone ! I used to use my MisT with an Amiga gamepad (hooked to an arcade cabinet buttons) but as you all know it only supported 2 buttons. I saw new cores appearing which need an USB gamepad. Is there a common solution shared by all cores, which add no input latency, and would enabled to use ...

Re: Should I buy a MIST?

Oh no, I wrote a huge post that I lost :) My 2 cts is that : you'll limit yourself to few machines BUT will get a more genuine feeling and just focus on one machine at a time. In my experience, I get a better picture with the MiST than with my emulators with filters although I'm not sure why (probab...

Re: Sega Master System

Oh, I have a question regarding db9 joysticks ! On the Amiga for instance there are 2 buttons. One pin corresponds to button 1 and another to button 2. On diagrams there seems to be a third one but it's apparently unused although I recall some games like Flashback that could use more buttons with so...

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

To those interested : latest firmware (not core) fixed the Amiga "simultaneous keys eaten" issue :)

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

Yeah, FPGAArcade is making much progress lately and is very promising, but it's clearly a different market. The MiST is the only truly affordable Amiga/ST replacement for hobbyists.

What can we do to raise more interest in supporting the Amiga core ?

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

That's definitely understandable :)

The Mist is the only current actual Minimig replacement as far as I know, so it should attract people as the Minimig core is very mature (but currently has some issues :)

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

Behaviour seems much better with my I-Pac keyboard encoder though (used for arcade buttons) ; but not right with actual kbds !

Edit : FIXED IN LATEST FIRMWARE, hurray !

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

Hey, did you guys encounter the bug that causes keypresses to remain sometimes stuck ? It happens in all Pinball games with the Amiga core for instance. I tried several different keyboards ! Also I noticed that when I type some text in the terminal, I have to make sure not to press several keys at t...

Re: MiST and MIDI questions

Thanks for your reply !

I'm pretty sure the answer will be "no", but does any of you guys build MIDI interfaces for the MiST or is it "DIY" only ?

I'm more an Amiga guy but using the ST core as a MIDI YM synthesizer could be pretty interesting !

Re: MiST and MIDI questions

Hi !

Some updates on the Amiga support for the MIDI interface ?

I would like to give OctamedSS and others a try... And also, if it could be accessed from Blitz it could come in handy !

Cheers ! & thanks again to all involved !

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

@Gryzor : it's understandable. My concern was that, contrary to 80s-90s consoles where games were generally first designed for 60 Hz display (which looked bad / felt slow on 50 Hz systems except in the case of good conversions), games on ST / Amiga were rather designed for 50 Hz systems. Sometimes t...

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

Out of curiosity, in PAL 56 Hz, I guess games are 12% faster than they should. For those who tested this mode, what's your feeling about it, is it acceptable to use it in the long run without "ruining" the experience (as it turns out to be prety difficult to find an LCD monitor supporting ...

Re: MiST - FPGA ST

Hi everyone ! First, big congrats & thanks to the devs ! As a long time Amiga user (and temporarily ST user too), I think the MiST sounds like a good and affordable way not to have to rely on old legacy hardware for basic Amiga (500 and hopefull 1200 ? in the future) and STF / STE configurations...
