Re: what physics games there are on the Atari?

Puzznic employs gravity.

Bombuzal has explosions, ice tiles and disintegrating tiles.

Wicked.. Is a bit weird and probably has nothing to do with physics, but you should play it anyway because it's ace! ;)

Surprised no-one's mentioned 'Another World' yet - I think that pushed the ST pretty much to its limits.

Re: STFM "hum" noise through TV speaker

It's usually a bad earth somewhere.. Make sure that the FM modulator is seated correctly and you don't have any dry joints in the solder. Also, have you tried it on a different TV to ensure the fault isn't there? Sometimes two forms of hardware that have to interact just don't like each other..

Re: Stuff you wish was ported to the ST...

I would like to see several of the best Speccy titles on ST. Knightlore, Batman, Max Headroom, Bobby Bearing, The Great Escape And a final version of Donkey Island, a title that the author never finished. ;) Hell yeah I agree with the Speccy conversions you mention, along with many of the other cla...

Re: RCM Event @ Snibston 2012 (7th & 8th April)

A Memotech MX512 (which had games loaded via audio CD tracks!) Was that standard? I mean, was it the usual case for games/software to be loaded in this way for the Memotech? All I know about it is that it is Z80 based. A quick search just now didn't reveal much more. They seem to be doing that a lo...

Hi i try Pirates gold many years ago, i thought it was crap compared to the ST, But the remake of Pirates was actual quite good. http://www.firaxis.com/games/game_detail.php?gameid=2 Never played that one.. Looks OK - People tend to do everything in Open GL these days and although it's pretty it lo...

Re: Enhanced version of 'Pirates!'

I'm sure I've seen a cracked version of 'Pirates!' for the ST with things like the map added in that you could access with an F-key. I thought I had it, but I can't find it anywhere. (It's possible that it could be a PC version I'm thinking of, but I'm pretty sure it was on the ST.) Any ideas, anyo...

Re: Retro gaming: your thoughts?

All those things has always been a big and importand part of my life. Standing there and watching the all new Pac-Man for the first time or reading early computer mags. It was something magic with that time and that's why retrogaming is so enjoyable. It's so much more then just games. ;) First time...

Hi! Stoke or Stafford? (I went to Staffs Uni myself.) Echoing Retrogamer_ST - it's mostly the memories for me as well.. I'm assuming you're a fair bit younger than I am, so you wouldn't have been around for the video game explosion of the late 70s / Early 80s (I was 4 in 1980). I was submerged in it...

Re: Guess the game! (Round 5)

Has anyone ever seen or played a "Rogue II" on the Atari ST? I've got Rogue, and I like it but I hadn't heard of a part II. Automation 372A. It's OK - it's like the original Rogue but with actual graphics instead of ASCII. (Well, that's what the original PC one was like anyway - my friend...

Happy New Year! Well, glad it's done with for another year.. Just had about a month of the same Xmas songs looping on the radio at work and they begin to grate after a while. The week between Christmas & New Years' is weird too, because for most people it's over when Christmas Day is done, but t...

A few favourites of mine missing from that list - Galaga, Phoenix, Gyruss & Mr. Do. (and maybe Q-Bert deserves a mention, but I was never that big of a fan..) My Dad worked for Taito's UK distributor in the early 80s, and he was allowed to bring cabinets home to have a play with, so we ended up ...

Re: The worst game ever

@CiH - 'Baal' sucked too, but that was released by Psyclapse, who were still a branch of Psygnosis. (So it counts - same sort of box, artwork, etc.) Oh gods, I remember Baal now! Yea, it was pretty rubbish... Which reminds me of Xenophobe. Good idea, but I don't think the ST port really lived up to...

Was thinking 'Rogue' by Epyx as the PC version just used ASCII characters and sounded just as you mentioned http://keaven.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/Rogue_Screen_Shot_CAR1.png But the ST version seems to have used sprites.. http://www.gamasutra.com/db_area/images/feature/4013/0606.jpg

Re: Vectronix 297 Whitewater Madness (Ste Only)

You can't write the image back to disk because it's in 11 sectors format. Try the attached one, it's in 10 sectors/track format, FloImg will handle this. :) Question. Can the ST write the 11 sectors format? Is there a software for the ST to write .st images to disk? I used to use either ProCopy or ...

Do you know of a version of 'Nightdawn' that will work on STEEM?

The only version I have is the Andy the Arfling crack on Automation 142 and it doesn't seem to like the STE.
