Re: Booting a homebrew OS. Is it possible?

Are you sure about that? I'm far from being an expert on computers' hardware, but for example PCs have a BIOS that is independent of the OS. I thought the Atari BIOS was independent too, even having OS on ROM. TOS = BIOS + XBIOS + GEMDOS + VDI + AES. I'm pretty sure whole TOS is smaller than curren...

Re: [CODE] Poll IKBD joysticks in asm

Hi, Is there a easy way to use a routine in asm for a joystick detection + keyboard arrows ? (I mean I'd like to use either a joystick or the arrow keyboard). I'd like to be able to detect UP, LEFT, RIGHT, DOWN, but also UP-LEFT, UP-RIGHT, DOWN-LEFT and DOWN-RIGHT both for keyboard and joystick. I'...

Re: TT game compatibility list

Yeah. The ballerburg is cool. But it really needs hex editing into English sometime soon (should have happened 20 years ago lol). I've translated it several years ago to English [1] when I got OK from its author to change its sources to GPL license and ANSIfy them so that they work with newer C com...

Re: Games with an 'attract mode'

I remember a store that was selling ST's had Killing Game Show running. The "attract mode" was a reply of the game from the start of the level till where you died. It kept repeating it over and over untill you moved the joystick. Ever so often though it'll have in large letters in the scr...

Re: Hatari OSX debug mode

I've just noticed the debugger is heavily documented in the user guide. That's because it's intended to be heavily used, to make sure people can create their new Atari goodies more easily. :-) While there are really good native Atari debuggers (Hatari debugger is e.g. missing some features that Mon...

Re: Froggies over the Fence does not work on Hatari 1.6.2

Oh, please... today's CPU's are really fast (I run 3Ghz...) and if I try steem's fast forward setting, it feels like 10 times faster (tested decade demo fullscreen). Maybe I'll have a look at the source and hack that bit in. This would also allow to capture videos faster than standard speed. Hatari...

Yes. I think I fixed that at least 5 years ago so that Hatari worked OK on Nokia 770 / N800.

Re: Hatari OSX debug mode

$ ./hatari.app/Contents/MacOS/hatari -D Now, when you press cmd-D the debug mode will become active in the terminal you launched Hatari from. Note that -D option isn't needed for invoking the debugger. It will just make Hatari (with old UAE CPU core) to invoke debugger automatically on certain exce...

Re: Audio vs Amiga

Again looking at it from a non technical viewpoint, I just prefer how the "real life instrument" style of audio sounds, compared the chip tune style. Sure a sampled segment of music might sound scratchy and low-res on an Amiga, but to me it still sounds better then the ST.... Some ST game...

Here are (Linux) instructions how to setup software midi synthesis up for the Hatari emulator: http://hg.tuxfamily.org/mercurialroot/hatari/hatari/file/tip/doc/midi-linux.txt It works fine with Atari MIDI applications and games. Re: Hatari disk drive sounds/sync to screen

I wonder if it would be possible to include an option for disk drive sounds like in WinUAE. This is a really nice feature as it sounds so real and I always have a audio feedback if the atari is still loading something (besides the green disk drive indicator on the upper right side of the screen). Re: Hatari 1.6.0 "Happy New Year 2012" has been released

I tested Hatari 1.6.1 (from mercurial) yesterday and found the following problems: (emulated machine is a 68040+MMU FALCON, 14Mb RAM, full DSP, compiled with the new flag to activate winUAE cpu). _ HDDriver 6.0 fails (hangs at boot) _ Cecile seems to conflict with gemdos emulated hard drive. _ cann...

Re: WHATS THE BEST ST EMULATOR ON MAC?

All Hatari keys can be remapped. Both the emulated Atari's keys and Hatari's own keyboard shortcuts.

For latter you need to know the SDL keycode that your Mac keyboard generates for the key you want to map and for former you need to know also the Atari keycode to which you want to map it.

Re: Hatari UI bugs (1.6.1)

These should now be fixed in the Mercurial repository. For first one you need to update just the Hatari UI's hatari.py python file: http://hg.tuxfamily.org/mercurialroot/hatari/hatari/rev/5c3e9eb201c7 But for handling spaces in file names (given through Hatari control socket), you need apply patch a...

Re: Floppy (image) browser slider size

I guess the slider should have a minimum size. If this is the SDL UI, it's not affected by whatever OS you're running Hatari on.

Please mail a request / bug report about that to either of Hatari's mailing lists and somebody will look into that: http://hatari.tuxfamily.org/contact.html

Is this with ST or Falcon emulation? At least for latter you can disable the "bKeepResolution" option, then it doesn't anymore try to use the desktop resolution and closest integer scaling factor, but sets the resolution to the Atari resolution and lets the monitor to do the scaling. (Some...

Regarding Android, Windows Phone etc, the new smartphones are having >1GHz CPUs (some even multi-core), half a GB of RAM (some like N9 even 1GB) and GLES v2 3D acceleration. Their browsers and www-sites nowadays require all that. JavaScript on the web sites is too slow if it's not JITted and JIT mak...

the videl emulation is rather limited at the moment, so there's no hbl/timer b interrupt. Nicolas Or any palette switching stuff during the screen drawing, like you support for the ST/e side.
