Re: Align inside BSS section

On the 030, code alignment becomes important as well due to the i-cache but sure, for the bss section it's just to align pointers. For data it could be a bit more work than just align and copy if the data contains pointers to data.

Re: TT030 Thunder IDE device mounting possibilities

The Thunder , you mean? I've never tried it, but afaik the unpopulated connector next to the activity LED (LED2) can be used to connect an external LED: http://wiki.newtosworld.de/index.php?title=Datei:Revision_D.jpg. Note that the activity LED is driven by the IDE device. There are some devices wh...

Re: TT030 Thunder IDE device mounting possibilities

That's really neat. Thanks for the picture! I didn't think there was that much free space above the PSU. My card reader is a dual one so I doubt it would fit though. BTW, does the Storm has any connector for disk activity? Would like to make use of the LED on the SCSI bay. The Thunder , you mean? I...

Yes, I was planning on doing that as well. Both issues are pretty bad and need to be addressed. A bit surprised that Atari didn't do anything about these issues considering all revisions the TT went through.

Would it be possible for you to post your drivers and .bib files? I'll try to get it done and uploaded in the coming week. You say the Nova gal you got from Frank a year ago, do you realise that an updated gal was released for Thunder Storm compatibility? Wasn't it for Lightning (USB interface) com...

Atari TT030: Buzzing sound

Hi, I connected a pair of speakers for the first time to my TT yesterday. Quickly noticed a pretty bad buzzing sound from the speakers when switching on the TT. Seems be worse in some resolutions (ST-Low/Med/High) and hardly noticeable in others (TT-Low/Med). Before I dig into this I need to ask if ...

Re: TT030 Thunder IDE device mounting possibilities

Alright, found a longer IDE cable and mounted my CF card reader in the SCSI HDD compartment. Turned out great. I now have easy access to the CF cards by just lifting up that part of the top case.

Re: Ati mach 64 2mb

Make sure you don't use a video mode that would need more than 2 MB. I've had some troubles with the mouse cursor getting corrupt in some of the pre-configured video modes with my Mach64. I can't remember if I ever found out why, but I configured my own video modes and with them I have no problems. ...

Thanks for all suggestions! I'll give both TT Digger and Ghidra a chance. This gives me a good reason for digging into Ghidra. I saw your post about it some weeks ago and read the overview of it. Seems to be pretty awesome!

Easyrider was what I used in the 90's... can't remember if it was able to handle 68030 instructions though. Anything else out there? :-)

Re: Align inside BSS section

Hmm, does this really work? The aligning will take place during assembly, but when the resulting executable is loaded the Atari TOS can put it anywhere. The OS only guarantees that it starts at an even address. As far as I understand it, alignment on anything but word addresses requires relocating t...

Just ordered the first volume as well, but volume 2 is the one I'm really interested in. Will you be able to give a pre-ordering period for volume 2 to the purchasers of volume 1? I don't want end up in a situation where volume 2 sells out before I manage to order it. I can imagine that the interest...

Re: TT030 Thunder IDE device mounting possibilities

Oh, that's really neat. I'll consider that mod to my Falcon, but now I really need to find a nice way of mounting the CF card reader in the TT. It can be completely internal without the card sticking out as I don't plan on using it for transferring files. I guess one place would be in the SCSI compa...

Was a long time since I used a disassembler but now I need one. What's the preferred one nowadays (must be capable of dealing with 68030 instructions)?

Thanks,

That is correct, i use a little program that starts the main program on a align_16 base.

TT030 Thunder IDE device mounting possibilities

Hi, So I finally found the time to install the Thunder+Storm in my TT. So now I have 64MB TT-RAM and a dual IDE CF card reader. However, I struggled with where to mount the card reader in the TT. If you have installed the Thunder and an IDE device, would you mind sharing some pictures illustrating w...

Re: Outrun with frame counter

Looking good! Whenever you're done with it for the STe I might take a look at it and adapt it fully for the Falcon030 if you would provide me with the source code. Could maybe even be possible to make it run in 50fps, (or close to it at least) on the Falcon.

Re: Porting SOTB to the Falcon

Yes it can. Hardware scrolling has nothing to do with the bandwidth. The only restriction is that you have to set the screen address to an even word, so for horizontal scrolling in TrueColor you can't scroll an odd number of pixels per VBL, i.e., 2 pixels per VBL are the minimum. Actually, even thi...
