Cześć A dreamer , czy mówisz po polsku? I'm quite sure that this forum is better than http://atariarea.krap.pl/ due to atari-area is rather 8bit than 16bit site. In opposite to this forum, there is only few people with ST and maybe four with Falcon (AdamK and Vulgar - CT060's owners, MacGy...

I have in my loft an STFM that ran colour on a VGA monitor, the whole system was clocked at 64MHZ and the CPU ran at 32MHZ with a speeder. You need to replace the TOS roms (I used SRAM), memory needs to be 60ns FPM, replace the 4 logic bus chips on board, change CPU to a faster version etc etc etc....

I think Mega Tridi is amazingly good, especially as it is all real time, no precalc.

I love this screen! IMO this is the best part of European Demos :)

Re: Overclocking the shifter

Now here's a stupid idea.. can't we just run the shifter at double the clockrate, so it pumps out twice the data (e.g. duplicating each horizontal pixel; giving that it can read out the same data from the MMU for a period of 2 cycles), so we can effectively double the HSync frequency and bringing i...

I was just curious that the Falcon blitter wasn't as fast as I would have expected given the increased clock rate. Frank there is not a Blitter problem - Falcon's memory is not fast as we could wish. In ST/TT and Falcon memory is clocked at 4MHz, it means that (in theory): - ST can read 8MB/s (4MB/...

hmm, on accelerated Falcon, Blittter is rather useless.
But to on the plain Falcon, you can get the advantage of using Blitter.
I.g CPU can do some calculation in the cache, and in the meantime Blitter can transfer data to/from DSP or do Gouraud Shading or something alse.

nada-san great job!

I had in the past, AY's songs player (from ZX and ST) for Windows, with stereo support.
And I can say, I love AY/YM in stereo!

It's pity that any ST sound players does not have stereo support.

I'm waiting for next songs!

Re: ST Demos on YouTube

Has anyone tried to search for ST demos on YouTube? I was messing around tonight and found that someone had actually recorded the intro to Xenon II and after a quick search there are about 15 pages of recordings of ST demos (of which some certainly don't do the originals any justice). Why watch a r...

I myself am not that familiar with the blitter, and has to check with the hardware documentation to get that working, but it is possible to add an extra read for every line, and if you are reading from the same word and shifting 8 pixels it is a byte swap. Shifting is not needed, straight copy shou...

Blitter can be slower with small copies because you need to load its registers. So don't forget some registers doesn't need to be reloaded each time. For example, the word count ($FFFF8A36) is reset to the original value after each line, so at the end of the copy operation its value is the same tha...

I had read that blitter could be slower than copying with 68000, BUT didn't take shifting or AND/OR operations into account? Actually, in Amiga1200 and Falcon030 blitter in many cases is slower than cpu. But in Atari ST, blitter is about twice faster than 68000 in raw copy and much faster when you ...
