He's not the Vampire guy, that would Majsta. Gunnar is the Apollo Core guy.

Ok, sorry, I stand corrected. But still doesn't change the main point :)

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

This core is being developed by a group of guys that were once involved with helping debug the original Vampire board, but they had a some severe falling out with Gunnar. They are creating a 68040 core that will out perform the Apollo core, it will 100% compatible, and it will be free. Can't believ...

Re: Would MiSTer ever be able to run a Neo Geo core?

Exactly IS42S86400F won't work at required frequency as it consumes a lot 120-180mA. So, the single chip probably will work up to ~80MHz. 2 chips will be even slower. The chip i'm using consumes only 60mA... Single 64MB SDRAM is pretty much possible with some chips. Did you test the 512Mbit (32x16)...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

I put the FX68K core into my Amiga design and it works well, although there are some glitches we don't see with the M68K. I think it's showing up some very subtle chipset issues, but when I get time I'll run with a real 68000 (I have one on a DB) and compare the two. /Mike Hi Mike. No idea if it is...

Re: High density .STX / pastis support

With current EmuTOS (from git repo) and Hatari 2.2.1, I see the following settings for the _FDC cookie: ST: 0 = DD, MegaST: 0 = DD, STE: 0 = DD, MegaSTE: 0 = DD, ... I see nothing wrong there, it detects the same drive density as Atari TOS. But Atari TOS doesn't create the _FDC cookie at all unless...

Re: FX68K Cycle accurate 68000 core

This might be a bit off topic, but running stable for days is not the correct way to verify a core. You have to make a proper timing analysis. Of course you're right, but that's the point where I'm out of my depth, knowledge wise. On the other hand, for a pure fun hobby project without any service ...

Come on, we are all here just for the fun and not for profit (I don't count small donations or hardware selling nearly at cost as commercial). Everybody has its own methods and its own timing and all should be respected.

Re: 1.44 Floppy image

HD floppy images in general work fine. Problem is just with low level STX/Pasti HD images, used for cycle-exact FDC emulation (needed for floppy game protections, which are AFAIK used only on SD/DD floppies), and low level floppy format support (if one wants to test floppy formatting programs). Not...

Re: High density .STX / pastis support

I finally had a chance to look at this. The reason that the disk is not detected as HD with standard TOS 2.06 is because the FDC cookie jar doesn't signal an HD drive. And this is in turn because the MSTe dip switch is not emulated. This has no direct relation with doubling the FDC clock, although t...

Re: FX68K Cycle accurate 68000 core

Thanks a lot for this core! Without any prior knowledge of FPGA development I eventually managed to integrate FX68K into MiSTer's Sinclair QL core. 25 years ago I've developed a 68k emulator and I'm the main developer of the current QL operating systems, so I'm generally comfortable with logic, but...

Re: High density .STX / pastis support

This is NOT a normal high density disk. High density disks have 18 (or more) sectors per track, each sector being still 512 bytes as it is in DD. This disk, as mentioned, have bigger sectors instead. This is the reason that HxC must create a Pasti image in the first place.

Re: High density .STX / pastis support

Pasti doesn't have "official" support for high density images. But nothing prevents you from encoding HD disks on Pasti format. In theory, the only thing that would be needed for full support would be some conventional flag marking the image as HD. But even without such a flag, and just as...

but PLL doesn't work with such parameters. It needs integer and fractional parts. And in general case fractional is not finite. Re: Scaler

Everything can be made with internal PLL. Probably you don't understand the problem in details. In general case you cannot have 2 large periods of time (frame time) with different clocks with 100% match as there is no ideal things exist in the life. It's always come to how precise you measure, then...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

The worst paths now are in the sdram-cache controller, but it doesn't cause instabilities (at least I didn't notice it). Those are the places where the core must run in 114MHz. I don't know how a constrain can help there, probably the fitter already tried to squeeze those paths into one cycle, and ...

Re: Minimig (Amiga) core discussion

Changed to 4/3 on MiST, works well. I see lots of timing failures (on the MiST build, didn't try MiSTer yet). Can't say if they are real or fake as a consequence of not properly constrained. It's 57 MHz effective clock then, it's about the limit of the T80. I expect TG68k is a bit more complex than...
